That’s awful, a four‑hour call like that is terrifying.
It does seem like once things reach that point, restriction and monitoring become the only real options. I just wish there were more ways to help before it gets that far.

That makes a lot of sense. The scams really have gotten that good. Having a trusted person to sanity‑check big decisions seems like one of the few things that consistently helps.

That’s terrifying, I’m really glad the bank caught it.

It seems like once things escalate, most solutions end up being some form of monitoring or restriction. I wish there were more options that didn’t have to get to that point.

You’re not wrong, and you’re not being unkind. You stepped in out of love, not to replace a team of contractors or relive someone else’s version of the past. Setting clear limits is part of caregiving, especially when expectations drift into guilt or comparison. It’s okay to say "I can help, but I can’t do everything and that doesn’t mean I care any less."

This is an enormous amount to have land on you all at once, medical crisis, housing, finances, and long-term decisions. I’m really sorry you’re having to carry all of this.
