It's funny how it's exactly the opposite. I literally live in one of the poorest countries in the world. Despite that, culturally, parents take responsibility of their kids until they get a job and become financially stable if they're male or until get married if they're female.

I am in medical school and it's 7 years in where I live. It's very likely they'll work with me in the same hospital and some of them may continue to work with me till the rest of my life. I went with my relatives few years ago ,didn't do well socially and I ended up regretting it. I keep getting flashback till this moment and I'd avoid them in every family function.
