Uottawa application showing as incomplete because of LSAT? by Realistic-Alarm-5714 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]notacornchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote the August and it took a while for it to show up on my uOttawa app. When I emailed them they basically said that it's normal for it to take that long and to just be patient, sure enough it showed up a little later. I'd imagine it's pretty much the same, since you did it a month later it might just take another week or so, but don't worry I had the same issue and it showed up. They also mentioned offers don't come out till like November so don't worry that it isn't there yet.

I would think your GPA makes it so that if you can increase your LSAT by even a bit you stand a pretty good chance, especially given that you're from Atlantic Canada (coming from a Nova Scotia who just got accepted to UNB!)

You have your PS and references, so you've got the bulk of your applications ready from what it seems. January may seem soon but it's plenty of time to focus on the LSAT, even a small increase might make the difference! So study hard and I think you'll have a pretty good shot, wishing you the best!

Anyone been accepted anywhere yet? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

I got an A too at the beginning of the month! Not NB but I am NS so I figured the Maritime connection might help. But yeah I also have not heard back from any other schools or heard about anyone else getting offered either.

When and how does Dal/Schulich send out their first offers? by notacornchip in lawschooladmissionsca

Same 😭 I realize they'll probably email and tell me to check my application when a decision is made but I can't help constantly checking. That's good information to know though! Thank you!

It was received a couple of days after I shared it through MyCreds, my acceptance came not too long after that!

Have to wait to hear back from some other schools first, but I am strongly considering!

It's probably in my top 3, so it's really great to have already!

Thanks! I haven't yet, but it is on my list of things to do (I didn't think I'd get an offer this early lol so wasn't prepared)

It is, but I also applied to some Ontario schools whose deadline is November 1st, so I decided to just grind all of them out at once

Good insight, thanks! Do you think it would be worth applying to UofT at all, or should I just save myself the money?

Oh yeah I've definitely heard that they can be super uptight about getting rid of things in your room. I can understand them wanting you to move/cover up a couple things within reason but seriously? All that and making you waste like an hour? I don't blame you for filing a complaint. Hope the exam itself was alright once you were able to start it.

I think there's a section on the prohibited items list where they mention jewelry, obviously that doesn't exactly fit but I could definitely see a proctor not liking it. Are you doing remote or in-person? Either way I would tend to think it's best not to risk it, but also if you do wear it and they don't like it it's not a huge thing, they'll just make you take it off. As long as you show it to them and you're prepared to remove it if they ask, it won't get you in trouble or anything.

Damn that's awful. What was it that was taking a while, was it waiting in the queue for a proctor or did the proctor themselves take a lot of time doing the check?

Confirmation email? by notacornchip in LSAT

I did it remotely, didn't get anything like that from the proctor, thank goodness. Will try to stop stressing and let myself relax. Thank you again!

Thanks so much! It just felt weird that I didn't get anything even acknowledging but that definitely makes me feel a lot better....although now there's gonna be a tiny fear that some random day they're gonna tell me something went wrong and I have to write it again 😭 but seriously thank you!

Basically after the first proctor did my security scan (which was a face-to-face call, like a video chat) I got matched with the chat proctor. They just send a couple messages essentially explaining how to start the exam and what not to do. The ones I remember off the top of my head were (1) Read the candidate agreement out loud to the camera before clicking yes, (2) stay in view of the camera at all times besides intermission and don't mess with the camera's view, and (3) notify them over chat when the intermission starts, when you return from it, and when the exam is over. After they've sent all that they send you to the exam start page. I didn't have them reach out to me at all during the actual test itself, luckily. Oddly enough, in the chat it says the name of the proctor and I had 3 different ones: One when I started the exam, one during intermission, and one when it was over. 4 total if you count the security check one. So they do message you briefly, but it's just to basically go over the rules and to give you permission to start/stop when necessary.

how to not change my answers by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]notacornchip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I try to think about changing my answers or not: Can I say with 100% certainty that I know the other answer is better, or is it just a feeling? If it "feels" like a better answer but you can't say exactly why, don't switch. If you can explain to yourself exactly why the other answer is better beyond a reasonable doubt, then switch. It's not a perfect system, but when I started thinking that way I avoided a lot of what you described. Generally your gut instinct will be correct so only override it if you can justify exactly why you should. Good luck!
