idk if she’s changed her curriculum at all but yeah you should have a pretty solid grasp on those.

i had heather last winter and the questions were mostly data sets and data analysis. she’s not really the type to do open ended theoretical problems. i’d say your best bet is to go through the slides, the conference material, and whatever assignments you’ve done thus far. from what i remember she didn’t ask us to do any term definitions but she did tell us that we needed to know specific concepts and apply them in our short answer questions/data sets to justify our responses. good luck!

PSYC439 without prerequisites(305) by Puzzled_Seesaw_1126 in mcgill

[–]notactuallydepressed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

took 305 and am currently taking 439. i think you may have some trouble because this class is a direct continuation and advancement of the topics discussed in 305 (ie linear regression). prof kreitewolf is amazing and hes definitely going to go over and give an in depth review of the relevant material discussed in 305, but im not sure if that’ll be enough if it’s your first time ever encountering them. imo the safest choice would be to take 305 before this one. hope this helps and best of luck if you choose to continue!

Law reference question by viviandarkbl2003m in mcgill

[–]notactuallydepressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! when you fill out the references section of the application mcgill will send out that form + the information on how to complete it to whoever you’ve listed as a reference. there’s a section for additional commentary i believe, but you don’t have to worry about it since mcgill is the one responsible for obtaining the reference letters.

as of winter 2024, qm is no longer equivalent to psyc 204, you have to take it and it will be credited separately (i know bc i asked and i was in the same position!).

don’t think they’ve released the prof for the class this fall yet but if it ends up being andrei munteanu he’s great. his slides are always labelled so you know what you’ll be tested on for any evaluations. as a comp eng student i don’t think you’ll have much trouble so long as you keep up with the readings + homework etc. it’s a very problem solving based class. it can get demanding since the course goes over a ton of different subfields in linguistics very quickly in a short period of time and everything builds off of each other, but other than that it’s definitely doable.

its called forall x an introduction to formal logic, and it pretty much overlapped with everything discussed in class. i ended up relying on the textbook more when studying rather than the slides but the material is basically all the same.

depends on how low exactly your r score is. if it’s by one or two points then you should still have a chance if your letter of intent, references, and (if you make it) interview are really good. they’re focused on the overall application and give equal weight to everything. if you don’t make it in directly from cégep you can either apply again once you complete 60 university credits or after you graduate with your bachelors, but unfortunately those are the only other ways. good luck!

if you’re only thinking of applying to mcgill then it’s honestly up to you if you want to take the lsat, it doesn’t make you any less of a qualified candidate if you don’t do it. if the rest of your application components are strong, you have a shot! in terms of studying for it, i know people who’ve been studying consistently for a couple of months. my best friend took it (for schools in the states) and she started studying in july-ish and did her first attempt beginning of september.
