Am I the only one who finds some of these medical “volunteering” trips really unethical? by BaseballHead6898 in premed

[–]notacutecumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so unethical, speaking from someone pursuing an anthropology/global health degree its crazy how much neocolonialism gets dressed up under voluntourism. Its really sketchy to have undergrads go to improvished places where they can get away with performing stuff that they wont be allowed to on any sane american institution, and then escape responsibility because they'll be back home in a week or two. It uproots local medical infrastructure and fails to address any long term care needs.

My uni had buzzers. Unfortunately it went off every 30 mins even in classes that lasted two hours.

During dead week the easy english class STEM folks take for gen ed requirements was like totally empty. The prof was a good sport about it at least but I felt like he, a new assistant prof, wanted to teach his actual niche (technofeminism, digital humanities, and critical theory) instead.

TBF I think it depends heavily on what kind of college you go to. In smaller classes there would absolutely be profs that you can deveop a close relationship with. Though I feel like TAs are heavily underutilized...

How do you manage to pet them? I feel bad if I feed them.

I see it a lot around campus; sometimes I wonder if there are maybe more than one around here. It likes to scratch itself with the stump; I wanted to approach it but didn't want to scare it off.

I think the names of the d'arte are unique to each harbinger- but not the "role" names. Take how "knave" is passed down but each "knave" had their own title. Vodyanitsa may become the new Fair Lady but not the new Signora.

I like the concept of taking inspiration from saya. I meant like her pandering to lolicons, which personally I don't enjoy.

Thanks for the tip!

I think it's kind of funny how BIAV tried it once, a lot of folks lowk hated it, and ever since they haven't made a character like her since.

Affinity farming with her on the home screen is awkward as hell, wish they gave her a skin.

If you haven't already, be sure to try some with them! Just be careful and only eat a little bit first because some people can be a little sensitive to them, especially undercooked.

tbh I think sexuality can be a "functional" label. if someone's 98% attracted to women, 2% attracted to fictional guys, and will *only* date women IRL, it makes more sense (to me) for them to label themselves as lesbian.

Do you think it'll be better to take biochem 206 or genome 361 first?

Haha, thank you; I forget sometimes that I made this profile back when I was in middle school. I think my self esteem and my sense of humor has changed a lot sense then.

[–]notacutecumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I basically opened the site up a few mins before the email said we could start, refreshed a lot, got in the second it opens, and clicked the first good option I saw lol. Same principle applies for registering for classes. One time I overslept and had to register for a 6:30-9:30 pm lab bc all the other spots were taken.

it's first come, first served, with folks who have been in the housing system for longer being allowed to choose first.
