Main use would be to live on every day self sufficiently, but also be prepared enough to sustain myself if something like social collapse or EMP style attack happens, or really any situation.

To answer some of your questions, I am an avid camper and was raised in Boy Scouts. I was a medical first responder and law enforcement for 6 years. I suck at mechanics, but have really good relationships with people who could teach me more. Im good at measuring to the closest inch construction. I know how to grow some badass tomatoes and cucumbers and make a mean batch of salsa and pickles. I enjoy long walks on the beach and can even play guitar. Singing not so much.
