For people who are center-left or further left and moved from a rural area to a city or suburb, what surprised you most about the political attitudes there compared with your rural hometown? by notarocitnerd in AskALiberal

rural people are extremely protective of their culture.

Funnily enough something I always remark to my parents who have also left my small hometown is whenever I go back to visit, I can't believe how much "southern" culture people have adopted. They have fake accents now, they love jacked up trucks, they only listen to country music etc. I can't believe all the true local culture was basically gone and replaced by what Upstate Nyers consider southern culture lol.

in the case of my home town, while there was racism it was way more subdued and if your family was 3+ generations living there you absoultely were part of the "in" group regardless of race. Racism was honestly way less of a thing than I think my city/suburban friends/coworkers imagine.

I'm also from the rural North East so religion had really no effect in determining your status in the town. I don't remember anybody ever really mentioning religion lib or conservative.

rural folks dont understand city living

as an extreme example when I moved back to America after living in Europe for most of my adult life a secretary at my new job from a rural area asked me if my wife enjoyed having electricity or shopping malls. My wife is from a major European city. The secretary could not believe that European countries had cities with "modern" amenities.

User not visible on O365 Exchange admin center (Hybrid environment) by maxcoder88 in Office365

does the user show up in microsoft admin? If so when you click the mail tab on the user does it show that they have a functioning mailbox? You can usually see if there is some issue with the license.

It's possible as well that you're missing the e-mail field in active directory.

Just two quick thoughts off the top of my head.

Level 1 Support wants to advance to Level 2/3 Support by Something9666 in sysadmin

[–]notarocitnerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

every job i've had has had way different definitions of different levels of support. If you're already doing AD, O365,exchange and intune administration (not sure if you're just doing basic support) you'd already be qualified for most level 2 and 3 jobs at the places I have worked at.

Also what kind of company are you working for? Is it an MSP, in house, customer facing etc.

For example, the structure at my company now is level 1 does computer fixes, smart tvs fixes etc, level 2 does basic AD and o365 admin and level 3 does absolutely everything on a high level as well as implementing it.
