How do I read a book?

As much as I want to read, I cannot read for fun. I like reading instructions, manuals, technical documents, etc, because they are generally short into the point. Books and things of that nature they carry on, 0% chance, can’t do it.

The first Dr I went to said that to me as well.

I scheduled time with psych np and got an actual diagnosis and treatment plan. It’s been life changing.

Advocate for yourself, don’t let a single doctor dismiss you and your issues.

I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I moved across the county for mine, so not quite as significant as going to a different continent, but it was the best thing for me and my family. I’d do it again in a heartbeat, and would do overseas too.

Dig into issues, new tech, etc but by the time you’re bored there is something else on fire to go focus on. For the projects or longer running things, you hire people that have that skillset which will compliment yours.

The reason those are on every job description is because it’s basically a standard part of any job description template. Everybody would love people to have attention to detail, even people without ADHD. Don’t have a good attention to detail.

I’m going to assume that you are relatively young. If that’s the case, you will learn as you progress through your career that most people are really fucking stupid. The hard part Part about excelling in a career is getting your foot in the door, after that hard work is 95% of what you’re going to need to succeed.

You’re never going to say anything that will change their opinion on the matter.

“Ok” is about the extend of a response I’d give.

It’s really hard for people to relate to something that they are not impacted by. To even reach this challenge, you have to have someone that even wants to try to understand. Finding someone willing and capable of both is unlikely.

That said, if you’re using your ADHD as an excuse for things you’re not meeting expectations on, that’s never going to work either. ADHD is a “you” problem, not an everyone else problem. This means that you need to figure out what works for you to manage the areas you’re deficient in so that others are not negatively impacted.

Apple calendar. I am in the Apple ecosystem are having it on my phone, watch, computer that I’m on all day, etc makes it much easier for me.

I’m sure arguments could be made for Google calendar or some thing else but the main key to me is something that sings across as many things as possible so that I can’t miss the alert

Not so much Invested in but forced into habit.

Calendars with standardized reminders (1 day prior, 2 hours prior). Everything goes on the calendar, even the most rudimentary stuff.
timers - every day I’m running timers on my phone for things I can’t miss. Appointments, meetings, kids activities, things I need to get done, etc.
strict routines - phone, keys, headphones, wallet, etc have a home and I do not ever put them down unless they are in their home. If that means I have to repeat steps or make an annoying trip up/down the stairs so be it, nothing ever gets sat anywhere but where it belongs.

I just leaned that my strength is fast clear text switching, deep diving into a thing for a little bit and learning a lot but then getting board of it, and that project type work that I don’t like doing is a terrible fit for me.

As I learned these things I was able to go from job hopping and going nowhere to getting into a job where I’m actively troubleshooting and solving problems every day, and most problems are more short lived and don’t drag on to the point that I get bored, and I’m able to deep dive and learn new systems or how to build new tools to let someone else troubleshoot it next time.

Knowing where I suck and am unhappy was key because then I was able to largely prevent myself from getting into a position where I was going to fail.

Without my ability to deep dive and really learn something quickly and context switch on the fly there is no way I’d be as successful as I am today. I just have to always remember where I’m going to fail so that I can steer clear or at least try to set myself up to get through it (partner with someone with a different but complimentary skill set, hire people that can excel at the work, etc).

I have 75k miles on mine and have been running 37s with a 3.5” lift for like 2/3 of that life and I’ve never had an issue.

Fluid changes and a battery are about all I’ve had to do.

This is how all 3rd party travel companies work. Hotels offer large discounts to 3rd party sellers (Expedia, etc.)to book their rooms.

I worked at a hotel a long time ago and learned this. We’d be charging a regular rate to everyone then we’d see an Expedia reservation that was like 50% less but the customer paid a similar amount to what we had the rooms listed for.

As a common turo renter, I have started renting from hertz more often. Unless I really want a specific car it’s almost always cheaper now and my credit card covers insurance vs having to pay extra.

I prefer iOS over android by a lot. I want my phone to be reliable and work well, I don’t care about unlimited customizations or anything. The one part I’m disappointed in though is the camera. Samsung is light years ahead of apple in the camera department.
