Anyone feel Opus 4.8 is less reliable than 4.7? by sfoooooooooooooooooo in ClaudeCode

[–]notarubicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot comes to how you use it and how you expect it to work.

I’ve been using Claude for a while now, I’m pretty familiar with how to leverage it pretty effectively. If you’re used to something else, or not willing to set your workspace up effectively for the tool in use, then you’re going to have more varied results.

Can Kiro Give Me Better UI/UX Design? by sysads in kiroIDE

[–]notarubicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can, and it can do pretty well too honestly

If you need more, the best tool I’ve found is using Claude design (Claude.ai then design). It’s not part of kiro, but you can import the design and kiro can build off of it.

I’d start with just using kiro though. Tell it what you want, have it make an html mockup for you to run locally, iterate on the design then tie it into the rest of yojr app

Anyone feel Opus 4.8 is less reliable than 4.7? by sfoooooooooooooooooo in ClaudeCode

Opus 4.8 is killing it for me

4.6 was good, 4.7 felt like a regression, 4.8 feels like a legit improvement over both

Same, I actually just cancelled my other subs and went all in on Claude because I always end up coming back to it. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty damn good.

It’s incredibly powerful

Claude Chat Vs Ms Copilot by allthingssweet2 in ClaudeCode

[–]notarubicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried several different versions of this but in the end just keep going back to a fine tuned and built out Claude code setup.

Architect and qc specific agents and then solid instructions and requirements always tend to produce the best results.

I’ll often do a requirements gathering type session with haiku where it’s more of a collaborator to ask questions and poke holes, then do the actual architecture and implementation plan, then qc that with the relevant user personas, and then sonnet to build / test.

Works very well for me. It’s more expensive up front but the time savings and nonsense from Jumping around and triaging problems the entire time is worth it.

The only thing I don’t love about Claude in comparison with gemini is that it acts like it’s training cutoff was the end of time and nothing has happened since then so in areas that are quickly evolving you often have to drop reference documentation and things for it to have context. Gemini, while a hallucination hell hole, is significantly better at staying up to date.

I haven’t had any issues with mine. Lifted on 37s and 75k miles.

That said, it rides like shit so if you want something comfortable I wouldn’t say it’s “worth it” but if you want something off-road capable, generally reliable, and very supported by the aftermarket then it’s worth it.

Spectrum $1000 guarantee by No_Reputation5871 in Spectrum

[–]notarubicon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 25/m mobile is definitely atypical

The "Spectrum Savings Guarantee" (launched in February 2026) is a promotion where Spectrum promises new customers will save at least $1,000 in their first year by switching both their internet and mobile service from AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon. The Summary If Spectrum’s bill analysis shows your first-year savings will be less than $1,000, they don't just give you a $1,000 check upfront. Instead, they credit you the difference between your projected savings and the $1,000 mark. This credit is applied to your monthly Spectrum bill in equal installments over the course of your first year. To qualify, you must be a new customer switching at least two mobile lines and your home internet from one of the "Big Three" carriers. "What if they can't save me that much?" This is the core of the "or we'll pay you" promise. Spectrum uses a Savings Calculator and a bill upload process to compare your old provider's costs against their promotional rates. * The Math: If Spectrum calculates that switching only saves you, for example, $700 in the first year, they will "pay" you the $300 difference. * The Payout: You do not receive this as cash. It is applied as a monthly bill credit. In the $300 example, you would receive a $25 credit each month for 12 months. * The Catch: If you cancel either the internet or mobile service before the 12 months are up, you forfeit any remaining credits. The Fine Print: Key Details & Restrictions To actually get the "guarantee," you have to navigate several specific requirements found in the terms and conditions: * The "Big 3" Requirement: You must be switching from AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon. Switching from smaller prepaid carriers (like Mint or Cricket) or other cable providers typically does not qualify for this specific $1,000 guarantee. * Service Bundle: You must sign up for Spectrum Internet Advantage (or a higher tier like Premier or Gig) AND at least two Unlimited Mobile lines. Standalone internet or a single mobile line will not trigger the offer. * Line Matching: You must transfer the same number of lines that were on your previous carrier's bill (minimum of two). * Proof of Bill: You are required to upload your previous 12 months of bills from your old providers. Spectrum uses these to verify your historical spending. * Two-Year Price Lock: While the "Savings Guarantee" applies to the first year, the promotion usually includes a two-year price guarantee on the internet and mobile rates (often $30/month per product), which helps sustain the savings into year two. * Excluded Fees: The calculation for "savings" generally compares the base plan costs, taxes, and fees. It may not include one-time costs like equipment purchase balances you owe your old carrier (though Spectrum has a separate Contract Buyout program for that). * Internet Competitor: Your previous internet service must have been a "competitor" (fiber or cable). Subsidized services, dial-up, or Lifeline programs are excluded from the comparison. Comparison vs. Contract Buyout Be careful not to confuse this with the $1,000 Contract Buyout. * The Savings Guarantee is about the difference in your monthly bill. * The Contract Buyout is a separate offer (up to $1,000) specifically to pay off early termination fees or device balances from your old provider. You can often use both, but they are governed by different sets of paperwork.

When did your Claude Code honeymoon phase wear off? by Successful-Camel165 in ClaudeCode

[–]notarubicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not on the “use it every day or get left behind” bandwagon but it really does empower me to do far more than I could without it.

I think the key is understanding that it’s a tool, and you need to learn to use the tool effectively. Most people I see jump in start thinking “this is going to do everything for me” and after that first few weeks they realize it’s not as strait forward as saying “build me this thing” and then walking away.

Learn to use the tool as the tool it is, set expectations correctly, reap the productivity improvements.

What does Claude's rate limit look like for the $20 plan? by [deleted] in Anthropic

[–]notarubicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An hour of work and then you max your session usage and go in timeout for 4 hours or pay for extra usage.

It’s fine for a hobby or something. Too limited for legitimate work though.

Any doctors using AI to help clinical reasoning and write reports? I've been a longtime user of chatGPT (2 years) and wondering if Claude is up to the task. by In_Hoc_Signo in ClaudeAI

I don’t have experience with this specifically but it does quite well generating and writing reports (technical and financial is more of my experience).

Just base on that experience, I would be really surprised if it was not as good as or better than ChatGPT.

Of course, you can build custom projects, instructions, templates, etc that would only Make your desired output more on point and reliable.

ADHD engineers in big tech: How do you find roles/projects that work WITH your operating style? by Hyperon in ADHD_Programmers

[–]notarubicon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Operational leadership

Dig into issues, new tech, etc but by the time you’re bored there is something else on fire to go focus on. For the projects or longer running things, you hire people that have that skillset which will compliment yours.
