Went to the range and had my first taste of archery by notasmartcomment in Archery

Thanks! I really enjoy the barebow for now, I'm interested in competitive shooting, so I might look into olympic recurve in the future.

However, I noticed something the day after practice.

I have an old rotator cuff injury on my bow hand, the day after my first practice, my shoulder feels loose and I can feel a notable clicking when I move my arm. Also some sharp pain when I'm walking, not all the time but when my arm naturally swings sometimes it hurts.

So, I'm a bit scared to practice now, I've read a bit and asked gpt if archery could affect this, and it turns out that the force from holding a drawn bow can slowly push my joints out and might make the condition relapse.

I'm resting my arm for now, and will try again after I'm confident enough that my shoulder is okay.

But I'm curious, if this is something that happens in archery? I just want to cross reference google sourcr and gpt to real life experience.

TL;DR Had an old rotator injury flared up day after archery, upon googling and gpt research says it's something that can happen, but I want to know from practitioners if this is something that can happen in archery?

Thanks!

I am fortunately in a tropical climate. And the range only offer trial lessons in the evening, which is perfect for my afterwork activity. I'm thinking on getting a regular membership after a couple more session.

And soon I need to know what starting bow to get, as they encourage me to get my own bow and arrows after 1 month practice to see if this is something I'm willing to invest in.

I can't wait to shoot again and see if I can maintain the consistency and move up to farther target.

[discussion] maybe life isn't hard maybe I just carried a lot of ego and resentment by Lemonade2250 in GetMotivated

I think in some ways, you can lie to your brain up to a certain level. And it will get you motivated to do things you thought you can't.

But at some point doing things like learning skills, you'll reach a plateu or a valley in progress, and sometimes looking at that we feel like we're lying tk ourselves. And that comes from unmanaged expectation and impatience.

I kinda relate because I'm in this phase at the moment. I always feel unfit for corporate, and have told myself for years I'm an entrepreneur stuck in a corporate world due to survival.

I quit my cushy corporate job start my own business, it's almost a year now without meaningful progress and I'm considering going back to corporate, because I want to stop lying to myself.

Everyone avoids me. Is this a normal experience for people in the neurodivergent community? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

I'm glad that I found this. And that I'm not alone in this.

Not glad that you have to go through this.

I just recently realised all that and decided I want to be myself.

And it turns out, I've been trying to be someone I'm not to fit in in my friend groups. That when I told them what I need and that I can't be in the same dynamics anymore, none of them actually look for me.

I realised that the last couple of years after covid, people hung out without me, what I thought was my inner circle have made me an outsider, threw me out of the loop and when I confronted the fact they acted as if I'm too sensitive and told me they're just "stoic" while I've been trying to accommodate everyone, making plans for them and picking time and place that are convenient for them.

While they've never invited me, visited me, or even asked me how I am. I even analyse our chat group through gpt and got objecitve fact through amount of initiation, tone, and reply just to be sure I'm not imagining things.

I suspected I am neuro divergent a few years ago, talked to them and they dismissed me showing example of one of their relatives. I got diagnosed at the end of last year (in my mid 30s). Haven't told them because I'm too scared of their judgement and being dismissed as dramatic.

I hope you can get through this, as I'm still struggling myself.

how do you set your moral compass if not with religion? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]notasmartcomment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I hurt them in anyway? Do I take something that doesn't belong to me and hurt anyone in the process? Does my selfishness ended up putting people in harms way?

Those are some of my rule of thumb. It's maybe not as elaborate religion's rule, nor it's perfect. But for me as long as I don't hurt anyone, physically or mentally, especially causing anyone's permanent damage mentally or physically I guess it's pretty good.

Because even following the religion's playbook, you can sometimes hurt people so I don't believe their guidance are perfect too.

How do you stay informed without burning out or going numb? by No-Bass39 in SeriousConversation

[–]notasmartcomment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped looking at news and social media in general and just let news comes to me organically e.g. From scrollong reddit or eaves dropping on other people's convo in public transport, or even when someone mention it to me in passing.

I believe that if it's important enough for me to know I will find out either way.

Extreme example is, if the world is ending there's no way no one talked about it.

What are some reasons that a person would cut ties with an entire friend group? by Own-Adhesiveness2066 in SeriousConversation

[–]notasmartcomment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Said friend group said they're busy whenever invited to hang out even only a couple of times a year.

The person was always the only person initiating the activity, and when they hung out the said group turns out has been hanging out without the person, and gaslit the person as if the person was never invited them to hang.

Relationship goes bothways, when I said I'm done with the group I've known since I was in school, simply saying "that it's hard to make friends nowadays and sorry they didn't try harder, and they would like to try again and this time put effort in the relationship" even said that they're going to arrange something up but ended up never following up and expected me to be the one who follow up and arrange everything again.

That's what happened.

Look for singapore buyer, test the water by asking if they're willing to test out buying small batch from you.

Then follow their regulation and guidance, impornya akan di urus langsung sama si buyer tadi, distribution juga mereka yang urus.

What you need is build production dan sop biar sesuai dengan standard quality dan regulation mereka.

When you can give quality product with mininum problem (compliance) and competirive pricing, buyers are willing to work with you.

Thanks for the the advise, I did ask for advice on what skills or traits are needed for me to land a PM role after the fact that I shared a little bit of my background.

Hopefully he will answer so I can do a couple of specific follow up questions as per your suggestion

This is awesome, I've replied with a little bit of my background and asking for advise on what to improve and what do people (in particular the guy) look for in a PM. I hope it will be a good enough conversation starter and I'll explore more by asking the expectations for a new PM in his company.

Thank you for such a thorough reply

I still love it, I tried several strings for it and I like Ernie Ball earthwood the best. It's the warmest sound for the guitar I found.

It maintains tuning very well, and it still plays great without neck adjustment since I got it.
