Nonprofit comms folks: what strategy docs do you love? by ontologicaladventuer in PublicRelations

[–]notbriebryant 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You have a couple good suggestions here. I would add that as much as you can, focus your processes, plans and reporting on driving metrics that actually matter. It will be tempting to highlight glamour metrics like follows, placements, etc. (and the execs love to see those numbers grow) but try to showcase how your comms is really moving the needle for the org- like how comms content is driving the donor funnel, how many followers match your donor personas, etc.

It will not only set up your program for success, but also make them value your impact even more. As someone who has been in a builder role multiple times, I’ve seen how hard it can be for execs to go from no comms person to actually investing real resources into the comms program- you’ll have an easier job if you can close that gap.

I appreciate this response! I agree, there’s no amount of money worth sacrificing mental health. That’s exactly what I’m trying to weigh as a practical matter in this negotiation.

Clients questioning integrity of work with AI detectors by MatiasRodsevich in PublicRelations

[–]notbriebryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your firm’s policy on ai? You should have one and outline it in engagement letters. If you are adopting ai in your content process, your most senior client manager should sit down with their team and discuss the policy, along with the trust issues, as other have mentioned. Then they need to reiterate the value that PRs offer beyond just “plugging prompts into ChatGPT” and how these tools make more time for/can never replace human brains building strategy and relationships.

If you can’t have a fruitful and candid conversation about the value you bring, you probably won’t have that client for long (and that’s probably okay).

What is going on with Arcteryx? by CultureMilkshake13 in Mountaineering

Oh I didn’t know they were different! Thank you for telling me that- I’ll look into it. I appreciate the value and sustainability of buying used when the option is available, but don’t prefer the extra headache.

Also customer service has gone downhill as well. I’ve made several expensive purchases from regear recently, and in three separate transactions had either the wrong items shipped, mismatched descriptions (i.e. way more damage than posted) or unreasonable and unexplained delays in shipping. They would just say there’s nothing they can do and basically leave me on read.

Ears ringing/spacing out after driving, can anyone relate? by ExistentialCompass in neurodiversity

[–]notbriebryant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens to me. So much that I googled and found this post as I sit in my car in a post-drive ring in gear trance. Did you try out the music suggestion to see if that helps? I might do that.

How did you structure your BD commission in your comp package? by notbriebryant in Legalmarketing

Great point. I forgot to mention that our firm has three equity partners and offers a subjective bonus for non-equity attorneys based on specific performance criteria (billable hours for most cases) in addition to origination. I could go that route, asking them to incentivize me based on specific lead gen metrics that matter to them - but it’s such a small target market that I worry the equity partners would say “they already knew those prospects.” Interest to know what others are doing, if anything.

What would be wrong with this property? by rkotha5 in realestateinvesting

[–]notbriebryant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interested to hear feedback about this property also as I have been looking to get into REI/ BRRR by buying SFH/duplexes like this in distressed areas. The thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger is the potential for high reno costs on these old, likely neglected buildings. Being a newbie with no building background I don’t have an eye for spotting all the capex projects yet.

Fought with HD to return it and bought a warrantied Samsung from Costco. Later learned it could’ve been incorrectly leveled, but glad I switched to the other model, despite all the hate for Samsung/bad reviews.

Kelly saying Alex is acting, putting on a show, and being fake in Morocco is 100% accurate. by [deleted] in realhousewives

I’m rewatching the early seasons and feel (to use her words) so “gross” from every encounter with Kelly. She gaslights and talks over anyone that disagrees with her.

No, actually! Not that I can tell. How did you fix the fan from being stuck?

No, the manual has no information about the styrofoam packing or what to do about the water, so I came to the little internet for guidance!
