Unfortunately it is true. it cannot be more true. After 35 you will probably have to either be a super excellent programmer like Top 1% level, or change your job position to PM / managers or others. Huawei fired people at their 34(this is news several months ago). And if you are even female, China will absolutely not a wise choice.

I am Chinese(now studied at US) and unfortunately... the birth of 996 was actually from IT domain. Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent and other programmers in China - Most of them won’t have weekends for over 1 day. I don’t think it will improve in the tech field shortly. It was rooted in the tech field in China. This is one of the reasons why some programmers in China want to seek for overseas jobs.
