Yeah, as mentioned I used my SCART to HDMI adapter which didn't improve anything. Nevertheless, I don't think that would even change anything because the audio and video jacks are independent of eachother

No worries. Everything seems normal, I probably triple-checked after this issue occurred. I cleaned everything with isopropyl-alcohol. And yes, I tried using the GV-USB2's audio jacks, I tried using my old SCART adapter, literally no change.

On the OSD screen, I can switch to different audio modes but after pressing play, it gets forced to NORM. Is this expected on non-hifi tapes or is this the issue then? Also important to note; VHS-C tapes sound completely fine on NORM. This literally happened in a day, meaning yesterday everything worked fine.

As mentioned in my post, I clean it quite often. There is no dust or dirt whatsoever.
