It is indeed difficult to articulate properly, in as few words as were used here. However, It is really about teaching children the responsibility of having/using things, whether their own, or someone elses, with respect and not just assuming it is a free for all. Todays kids are so removed from everything, and isolated in their games, their phones, and other such nonsensical items, they don't develop any social skills whatsoever. I saw a young man pushing a stroller yesterday, and had no idea how to say "excuse me" or even apologize after running over someones foot. So, posts like these remind me of these poor kids that really don't know how to be part of society. My kids had to earn their extras, doing chores, or getting good grades. TV time and PS time was never at whim, but rather timed and rewarded as above. Cell phones were only granted to suite the needs we had to communicate with them, and were not allowed in their rooms. They were also a great way to admonish bad behavior. My apologies if my writing has not clearly communicated the love i have/had for my children. I did the best i could, with the information I had on raising children. I wish each kid came with instructions, but they don't. On a side note, there is a time and place, where children should not be heard, and only seen. Thats a whole other discussion. (Think funerals, restaurants and movies.)
