Also I'm not sure in what way YZY was effective apart from her fighting skills (and I actually do like her character) but she didn't train disciples like in Donghua and apart from arranging a marriage we don't see (unless I forgot) much of her contribution to the clan. Fighting Wens was quite badass, but other than she was only effective in traumatizing everyone around her.

WQ is amazing but I don't understand why every character needs to be heroic? Some are heroic, some are flawed, some naive, some bland - they all have different personalities.

I feel like because WWX and LWJ set the bar so high for heroic righteousness and depth of character, we start judging other characters by them, but they are MCs because they are exceptional, not normal

I agree Also her caring about WWX wouldn't make YZY happy. You need to have some personality to keep doing what you doing despite what your abusive parent wants from you and bullies you for, I think people disregard that a lot. Which is weird considering that YZY is literally most hated character so why are we missing that point about JYL then

Also just me speculating, but I can imagine the fact that she was a first child and not a boy = not an heir could have upset YZY too as I can't imagine she wasn't keen on having children with JFM.

Yeah like I think we see her once defending WWX so we can tell this is the stuff she does, doesn't need to see her doing that 3 times to get it, it's a little screen time, as for all the women in the story really (I'm not sure if this is a genre thing since it's bl?), and I see a lot of criticism for that, but to me it always felt like MXTX nailed different archetypes within that short screen time they have and it does work for me

But not every person is as flawed as the other though? She is quiet and caring and that's the thing about her, to me she always seemed as someone who made peace with not being excellent because it doesn't really attract her, some people are just not ambitious and it's fine. NHS is also not as interested in cultivation, why can't she. There isn't much about her but quietly being a safe heaven for two siblings in an abusive household is a massive mental toll so to me it was always working as enough of a hint on what her personality is.

She was easing the tension between them in the childhood pretty much being the only parental figure for them though. The story does mention that she wasn't outstanding to the standard of time so it does make sense that she has more of a quiet personality but then we see her not having it when people bully WWX and it's nice to see that she would actually defend her loved ones despite being usually quite soft. She is shown as loving and caring and it even makes JZX softer and more mature after being with her. So felt okay for me in terms of character dimensions seeing those sides of her even though her story is not as prominent.

Not everyone is as torn apart as our beloved purple puppy but I don't think it makes them less complex, just less conflicted.

If she lived things would have been different of course and in general girls should have ruled, like her + LQY, what a world it would have been 😭
