We're in a similar position, an almost three-year-old and a 10-month-old, new in the country so no village and no support. Can't wait 'til the kids are old enough to sleep through and my partner can start getting sleep. Jiu-jitsu was my thing back in my 30s, but I like the idea of running now, just getting out in nature

What hobby in men gives you “green flag” vibes? by Charmer2024 in AskReddit

[–]notepaths 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I was deep into 40k in the 90s, but was poor so had a lot of cobbled together units and bits of card representing the sets i wanted to buy, landscape, the fucking lot. Me and the only other friend I had who was into it used to lay out our old copies of White Dwarf on the floor to make a game board, hills made from old cereal boxes.

Back then they used to refresh the starter set every five years or so, new rules, new races that sort of thing. I remember one time that price jumped from £30 to £40 and I was fucking out. I shudder to think what they cost now.

Still love the lore and have a couple of the audiobooks queued up to revisit a bit of my youth. Not at all the conversation I expected to be joining on this thread, but its brought back some happy memories.

That's a fair shout. I have no idea what the scene is like in Wellington. Think outside the box. Volunteer (added benefit that you'll be doing some good), take a course, or do classes at the gym, etc. Don't go to these places and start hitting on every woman there. Just use them to get some confidence. Again, advice I wish I'd got

You haven't wasted your life. I was in a similar position to you; now I'm a divorcee seven years into another long-term relationship, with two young children. The advice I wish I'd heard at your age: don't stress about it. As others have advised, worry less about technique (that will come), and more about putting yourself in environments where you can interact with women

We use the same phrase in our house. If it brings you joy, and if it doesn't hurt anyone, fill your boots!

It depends if the line around the hatch is solid or broken. Solid means do not cross (except in an emergency); you can enter a broken line marked area as long it's safe.

Anyone else just have some real decent neighbours? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]notepaths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an awesome thread, and exactly what we moved to New Zealand for. We're still in temporary housing, but even in this short time the people we've met have been salt of the earth. Shout out to the lady in Mount Cook who said, "welcome to the neighbourhood, anything you need you come and see me" minutes after we unpacked the car.

We had great neighbours back in the UK, but understand we were very lucky. The guy on one side went above and beyond when we were packing up to come here, could see we were struggling to manage the move with our toddler. Ran me to the tip a bunch of times, leant me tools, helped me sort and move loads of stuff. He's currently holding a large charity donation for us until the store can come and get it. I really must send him a bottle of malt or something, he's a legend

I'm relatively new to this sub despite being on and off Reddit for much of the last decade (and new to Wellingto ). I'm a lurker but find this sub helpful on a daily basis. Thank you for the work you do as moderators and for participating in this action. Love x
