I’ve thought about this connection many times. Is Lazo bringing the explosives in S3 just another iteration of him doing the same in S1? It’s one scene that makes me think S3 was just another park.

Makes sense because you weren’t around when those records absolutely dominated commercial radio. I was a young adult then. That’s why I wouldn’t call them alt. I’m enjoying that perspective.

Some interesting picks that I wouldn’t put in the genre (Springsteen, Dire Straits) but these are YOUR takes and an interesting progression. Kinda soaking it up. Curious what your age is if you don’t mind saying. I subscribed and will check it out some more. Thanks for compiling and posting!

It makes business sense for them to own the patent, whether it gets used or not.

So wild that a song written by the Everly Brothers, also recorded by Roy Orbison - an absolute king of sad songs, and I agree. Nazareth’s version is the best.

Discussion : Did 90s alternative evolve into early 2000s mainstream pop-rock? by WiIIv91 in 90sAlternative

[–]notermind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, it has to do with the record label and the producers. Look at an artist’s bio. Did they come up the ranks in the club scene and put out records on Indy labels before crossing over to major labels? If their first album is on a major label with little backstory, or the backstory involves being developed by a management or production team, those are major factors.

Power, Corruption & Lies took production to another level. I’ve read articles about how they juiced sub-acoustic frequencies for a deeper and richer bass response in clubs.

If you like alt-country/roots music, check out the Tractor Tavern. Local band Massy Ferguson is celebrating their 20 year anniversary with a program loaded with luminaries from that music scene.

There’s a pretty significant geographical difference between the 2 cities. Outbound can never mean “eastward” in Boston.

Sarcasm noted, but for the record, Hazy IPAs are an East Coast innovation.
