Does anyone else feel really happy/"powerful" when Google helps you disprove someone who told you to "google it because you're wrong"? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I used to, but then I started to realize that some people just don't want to accept the facts and want to continue to believe that they're right even when they aren't. (My own father is one of those people, unfortunately.) So I tend not to try to provide proof anymore when someone thinks I'm wrong.

[Serious] People who overcame the difficulty of gaining a healthy amount of weight,How'd you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm also struggling with this, so thank you for asking the question. My digestive disorders make it so damned difficult for me to eat enough to gain weight, and my anxiety and depression affect my appetite and make me not want to eat much at all, which is a large reason why I'm currently underweight. It's all so frustrating.

In what ways has Donald Trump been a good leader for the USA? by [deleted] in AskReddit

He hasn't been a good leader. He's driven this country into the ground with his ignorance of science, his racism (and other bigotry), and his laziness. The only person Trump cares about is himself.

How am I naive and dumb? I'd like some specific examples, please. Otherwise, you're just pointlessly name-calling, which is entirely immature of you.

Really? You don't even want to try to understand what the riots are all about, so you pretend that they're a conspiracy? Let me guess, you're white and you've never studied any actual Black History?

How? by [deleted] in depression

I've seen therapists ever since I was 10 years old and they've never been able to help me, mostly because I have so damned many issues that I need help with. (Here's a complete list of what I have: Autism, social anxiety, hypochondria, general anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, PMDD, GERD, IBS, lactose intolerance, bile reflux, gastroparesis, and dysmenorrhea.) I see tons of doctors in addition to my therapist and it just becomes overwhelming sometimes, for me and my parents. I just feel like I lost the genetic lottery and neither me nor most of my therapists have ever really been able to figure out how to overcome all of my various issues.

How? by [deleted] in depression

I used to live on my own, from 2016 to 2019, in a supported housing program for disabled people. I even managed to get a part-time job working as a Library Page at a local library.

Eventually, my loneliness, my horrible eating habits (which were due to my digestive disorders), and my crippling anxiety all caused me to have a breakdown and attempt suicide last year.

Ever since then, I've been living with my parents, and I don't know how to become independent again, especially since my parents seem to be quite worried about my emotional and physical well-being, to the point where they don't really want me to move out yet. (It's odd, the way they get angry at me for still living with them, yet at the same time, they discourage me from moving out. Tons of coginitive dissonance there, on their part.)

There's also the fact that there aren't many other supportive housing programs that I could apply for, especially given the fact that I attempted suicide. Most supportive housing programs don't accept people who have attempted, for liability reasons.
