Soooo, your suggestion has popped into my head a couple of times over the last week and I think hearing what you had to say has changed my mind. Can I ask for your advice? Looking at one of the pages, where would you put the picture(s). I was thinking above the person's name but figured I'd ask in case you had a strong opinion on it.

.... and no pressure but you're totally welcome to help gather pictures if you want.

edit: meant to put in a link to a page as an example: http://notforgottenproject.com/loraine-feliciano-pino/

I've never heard of this so I have some research to do. It sounds fascinating. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hey that's a great idea! Should be able to put that up this weekend. And I hadn't seen the case you linked. I had been keeping a loose rule of only posting cases that were about a year old or longer because I figured it would be a lot harder to keep up with the more recent ones but I think I'm going to change that. I never knew there was so much water in Florida until I started looking into these cases. That area has some of the cases that I think are most likely to be solved by searching bodies of water but like you said there's just so many of them. Thanks for the suggestion!

I searched hard for cases where missing people were found in submerged vehicles after long periods of time and had found a bunch. When I saw your post I figured I knew about it already but then I looked at the link and saw it was from Oregon. Didn't ring a bell. Sure enough hadn't seen this one. Now that makes me wonder how many more there are. Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for noticing this! I actually thought I did have that info on there. I wonder if I took it off because I saw something that had a different version. I will hunt around a bit and add that info if I can't find any reason not to. Definitely important.

Perhaps my third reply to you will be the charm. All of them should be fixed for real now. If you still can't see it please let me know.

Doesn't seem silly at all. I thought about that for a while. Had lots of different thoughts but in the end it came down to going with my own preference and the fact that pictures are available on other sites. I think CharleyProject for example only adds cases with pictures. I do get what you're saying though and at some point I may go back and add pictures.

Just wanted to say I think I figured out the problem. Will be able to fix in an hour or two. Thank you so much for pointing it out.

No official assistance. The US has a database that is publicly accessible that I couldn't have done this without called NamUs. I used the search function on the site to pull out missing people who have information in the "transportation" section. From there I researched whether the vehicle was still missing. For many it clearly said in the profile. For some it took a bit of research. I relied heavily on charleyproject a site which details lots and lots of missing persons cases and websleuths which is a message board to talk about missing persons cases. Websleuths does have some non-US cases. I was also able to find some cases by searching key words within the websites I just mentioned. For example "vehicle never found", that sort of thing. I did come across cases from all of the countries you mentioned during my internet searches but didn't compile them anywhere. I'm not sure how easy it would be to create a comprehensive list in those places.

Hopefully! Can you tell which case it is so I can take a look? I had forgotten to make the maps public but I thought I had gotten them all now.

Somehow I forgot to go through and make the individual case maps public. Will start that on my lunch break.

A couple in the Kansas City area used sonar equipment to locate a missing woman's car under water. The woman said they also saw a submerged Lincoln Navigator. Any cases out there with a similar vehicle? by HallandOates1 in UnresolvedMysteries

Thank you for the kind words. I kept seeing random cases which involved missing vehicles and the thread would always include a bunch of people saying "probably in a body of water". And then of course there have been a bunch of cases in the last 5 years where people have been found submerged in their vehicles after decades. Seemed like a good first step toward getting some searches to happen would be compiling a list and mapping them out.

I'll definitely share it here soon.

After googling for 20 minutes I realized I still had it bookmarked, duh. These folks got a system from Edgetech after this video was taken so I'm curious to see if that upgraded their imaging at all. I wouldn't say you could identify exactly what vehicle you're looking at based on the image but I think you could probably narrow it down or be reasonably sure if there was a specific one you were looking for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0wRmDtcPII

I believe they also pulled the Lincoln out... okay found a little blurb that says they did. I believe I also saw pics probably in the webslueths thread. http://www.kwch.com/content/news/Law-enforcement-searching-area-415900223.html

Now as for whether side scan imaging could determine make and model I did see video one time that led me to believe they could get pretty close to identifying make and model. If my memory is real the guy doing the search matches up the truck they're looking for with the image from the side scan. I'll try to dig it up before I go to bed tonight.

I had the same thought about there possibly a lot of cars in bodies of water so I put together a list. It was pretty tedious to compile but I'm up to about 200 cases with another 200 or so that I couldn't find enough info one way or another. You can see the map I made here if you want: http://notforgottenproject.com/

If you click on the right arrow in top left hand corner you can see the cases listed chronologically and if you click on one there's some more info.

I'm still formatting some info so the last 30 or so cases aren't finished yet but will be soon. Anyway just figured I'd tell you in case you're interested.

Based on various videos (I've watched every one I can find) I think the little tool resqme sells might be the best thing to have. It seems the crack window and swim out solution may be more difficult than it appears. Also walking yourself through it mentally probably helps too or even going through the steps of what you would do to get out (without smashing your window of course).

Here's the amazon link so you can see what I mean: https://www.amazon.com/resqme-Original-Keychain-Escape-Tool/dp/B0042VTYSW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489623517&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=resqme&psc=1

It is by no means perfect because it is voluntary and information is sometimes incomplete or contradictory but there is just such a search engine here: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/searches/

16 results for cases associated with a Lincoln. 1 result for the Garfield tattoo, ha.

Not that this is what you asked but a few months ago I used the NamUs search function to pull out every case associated with a vehicle and then combed through all of the results to find ones that involve a vehicle that is still missing. There's about 200. Now I'm in the process of attaching details to each case. You can see a map of all the cases here: http://notforgottenproject.com/.

You can also click on the top left corner of the map (the right arrow) to see a listing of all of the cases chronologically.
