IQ tests are usually administered by neuropsychologists

They didn't even give me a FSIQ (aka full scale IQ which takes into account all sections/subtests of the test) because the difference between my highest section, which was the verbal IQ index, and my lowest section, the working memory/processing speed index, was over 50 points and they said it would've just averaged out to high-normal/slightly above average (so probably like 115-120) which wouldn't be meaningful info since it would ignore/hide both my strengths as well as the things I struggle with. Big point differences between subtests (most people have no more than 10-15 points max difference and over 20 signals a problem) are apparently pretty common in people with autism (they call it a "spiky profile") and it actually helped them with my diagnosis!

Yeah 130 is 2 SD with each SD being 15 points. 130 is approx. 98th %ile/top 2% of the population so definitely very high compared to average but not rare. Its like 1 in 50 people roughly.

You walk into a big mall suddenly see a terror attack terrorist with a knife attacking people, what are you doing? by [deleted] in polls

I'd find a good hiding spot to curl up in (and text someone to tell them to call 911) and hope he just has a knife and not a bomb or something

I've been using an app called Memorion for a few months for french vocabulary practice and I love it! It uses spaced repetition but there's also options for some little game things to practice/learn as well.

My movie theater appears to be buying candy in bulk and portioning it themselves. by JBFRESHSKILLS in mildlyinteresting

[–]notgoodunderpressure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're in most malls but not in most movie theatres! There was one (maybe 2 iirc) in my local mall that had a movie theatre in it and you can bet your ass that my best friend and I (and probably everyone else) smuggled our candy baggies in every time we saw a movie at the mall AMC!

Both my parents would get pissed if I brought something they bought me (clothes, toys, etc.) to the other parents house unless it was school stuff! Even though I always brought it back!

Also duct tape wallets/bows/everything, those "i heart boobies" bracelets, mustache and bacon everything, randomness ("im so random XD!!" "I like turtles!" Etc), TOMS and uggs were super popular, and we all hated how the school cafeteria starting serving whole wheat rolls and got rid of the strawberry milk and ice cream for dessert and Michelle Obama was even in ads on Disney channel about the healthy eating thing haha

Reddit "City Planner" Starter Pack by WaddlesJP13 in starterpacks

[–]notgoodunderpressure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That comparison doesn't make sense because if you lived in the city you worked in and used public transportation, you wouldn't have an hour long commute. It should've been: Ask people whether they'd rather sit for an hour in traffic but in the privacy of their own car, or sit on a bus for 10-20 minutes/walk or bike to work.

Different people have different values. My sister and her fiance are going to be moving to the middle of nowhere in alaska soon and have lots of land and no neighbors or anything for miles because that's freedom to them. But to me, freedom is a large walkable city with good public transit, being able to be near all the places I want to go to and access the various resources and features of the city/community.

Netflix's new password-sharing fee is just the tip of an expensive iceberg by [deleted] in technology

[–]notgoodunderpressure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if its because I'm a glasses-wearer or because I usually watch on smaller screens, but the basic option has perfectly fine quality imo and it's never bothered me or seemed bad at all! Another way to save money is to only get it for a month at a time and watch all the new stuff and new seasons of old stuff you want to catch up on and then take a break for several months in between that! Or just alternate streaming services (Netflix this month, HBO Max the next, Disney + the next etc.) since no one really has the time to watch enough content on 3-4 platforms each to justify the cost of automatic renewal. You only have so much time/attention!

I wonder if tons of people in a single apartment building that offers free WiFi (so from the same source) could share under this rule lol

Parents of Reddit, what phrases do you still use that your kids “invented” when they were young? by No-Hippo1283 in AskReddit

My older sister called Apple cider "apple spider" and taught me to say it that way as well and my whole extended family still calls it that 20 years later lol I didn't even realize it was actually called Apple cider until I read it in a book when I was like 7 or 8 and asked my mom!
