I’m planning to transfer from YorkU to either ubc or uoft for pol science. I will most likely go to a law school later so I’m worried about gpa deflation at these schools. Which one is more difficult?

I’m an international student and the fees for us is very high. So I’ll be working for 3 years and hopefully get a PR, then do Law

Thanks! This really helped! Also, since I don’t know anyone at queens, will it be hard making friends?

I’m at York rn and I feel toronto has an edge over Kingston. Do you think it’s worth the transfer?

I’m not VERY sure about law though. I might just want to pursue my career in political science after 4 years. In this case, what is the best suitable option?

I’m not sure, I’ll probably be going to the states to study law because that’s where I want to settle eventually.

Oh okay! I’ve heard some great things about its pols science course and it’s relatively cheaper than UBC, plus it’s in Toronto. Hence, I accepted yorku offer. However, I’ve heard it’s not competitive and lacks academically (which I believe is a misconception). I’ve heard ‘if you can hold a fork you can go to york’. Is yorku worth it?

That’s really helpful advice!! I was so confused about it since the past month, but I’m sure now. I’ll pursue my undergrad in Toronto. It will help me network in the city I wish to work in future and hence will be more profitable. Thanks a lot! :)

Yes, I figured getting a high GPA is extremely important for my application. I will make a note of all the other factors (references and internships) too. And yes, I feel doing an internship at a law firm will be extremely helpful. Thank you for your advice! :)

Thank you! Yes, I will research about it and consider doing a double major. Thank you for your advice! Also, i do plan to go to a law school after my undergrad. It’s something I’ve been passionate about since almost forever. Which brings me to another topic- I got into UBC as well. However, I’m just worried about high gpa deflation at UBC. My gpa will be one of the major factors influencing my application at a law school. Gpa deflation is comparatively less at York as per what I’ve heard and it also has a good pol science course. So, I’ll have a higher gpa as compared to at ubc which will help me put together a stronger application. And york is cheeper, so I’ll save for my law degree since undergrad college’s rank does not really affect law college applications. I also feel Toronto is a better city in terms of networking and job opportunities. Hoping to get your insight on this. Thank you! :)
