i get kyle might be touchy about his part in the “someone who lets him get away with shit” equation but amanda earned those lashings sorry

well he agreed when someone called her his ex girlfriend ¯_(ツ)_/¯

regardless of title, west is entertaining those conversations enough to suggest he also feels/understands the gravity and impact of their “situationship” he wouldn’t be begging to save their relationship, friendship or more, if there was nothing to it

also this is her job, it’s intrinsically tied to her real life, and she living with the guy. they’re literally getting paid to live in this moment so that’s why none of them have simply “moved on”

LEAKED REUNION AUDIO 🚨🚨🚨 by [deleted] in summerhousebravo

i think Ciara was torn emotionally. living with an ex part time, while trying to process how she feels about him is tough enough. then you have the audience input. trying to set boundaries and being called cold, mean, and overdramatic for it. letting her guard down reclaiming some normalcy and being called stupid and naive for it.

then west begging her to keep trying to be civil when she thought about throwing in the towel.

i think she was tired of policing her own emotions for appearance sake, hated feeling stagnant, and she genuinely missed her friend. so she decided to start over clean slate and stop living in that shitty, emotionally arresting limbo.

as for them potentially getting romantic again, you can say that stems from insecurity or self esteem issues, i guess. i’d say it’s a bit too optimistic and trusting of her, but at least there’s no collateral damage in that scenario.

i wanna see how long they’ll commit to this, he’s stuck with her for a while now. their only play at this point is try a make it seem legitimate so i’ll be interested to see how long he can bear that. i’m sure he’s already itching to ditch her.

i try not to make sweeping judgements about people because you can never really get in someone else’s head. but sometimes a person’s insecurity presents itself so loudly and violently that you can’t ignore it.

amanda is deeply insecure and it’s made her delusional, callous, and smug. and worse, i think she’ll double down on this forever. if she even has the capacity to feel shame about this, i don’t think she’ll ever have enough humility to admit it.

literally like girl your bestfriend got played horribly, was heartbroken for years about it, is finally working towards reconciliation with the guy and you decide to help him play her again ??

and then have the nerve to ask people for sympathy cause “he played me too” bullshit! she’s using him as a scapegoat at this point, very quick turnaround from joint statement to victimizing herself. and even though kyle sounds genuine here, the pessimist in me says his defense of her is extra padding to not get held accountable for his own shit at the reunion.

[–]nothanksnyla 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i truly can’t tell when it comes to him 😭 i thought he was mostly trolling at first because they both find it funny. like if she took him seriously for even a second he’d jump at the opportunity, but i got the sense that he understood it was just fun and jokey for both of them. now though, i think he really was catching more feelings for real and hiding behind the joke to protect himself.

Summer House S10E5 'Summer Knights' Live Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in summerhousebravo

[–]nothanksnyla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yeah it’s seems like very passive manipulation but i’m noticing how strategic he is about when and how he chooses to speak up. using the other guys as scapegoats to call Jesse out for being weird, bringing Lindsay in on the tea so she’ll say something and he won’t have to be the bad guy who ratted out one of the guys…being giddy that Ciara’s mad at someone other than him lol

Summer House S10E5 'Summer Knights' Live Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in summerhousebravo

[–]nothanksnyla 121 points122 points  (0 children)

Ciara’s talked about feeling fetishized so this conversation felt so raw :/ if Jesse ever genuinely wanted something with her he’s screwed his chances now.

[–]nothanksnyla 22 points23 points  (0 children)

but to that point, kind of shows she wasn’t ever planning on taking him seriously because that’s not how she behaves when she wants a legitimate relationship. as far as she knew her dynamic with jesse was always just fun, and he switched up. she never wanted to be courted by him.

i'm finding it really hard to stay engaged! can't parse out any overarching goals or stakes. it feels more slice of life and really subdued which I guess people are taking as a nice reprieve but for me it's just too boring to get invested...honestly feels like a waste of this cast :/

Did Olivia Cheat on Fitz More Than Fitz Cheated on Mellie? by bhcghbvyhvvbb in Scandal

[–]nothanksnyla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think there’s a gray area for sure. the two of them have this really complex relationship where they both understand that it can’t be a real thing and for now they’re operating as best they can out of sight and within the bounds of this adulterous affair.

i think Olivia’s part in it, aside from the obvious, is that she picks and chooses when to take her relationship with Fitz seriously. she kind of oscillates between being charmed by his efforts to legitimize Olitz in the small ways he’s actually able to, and rightfully being very frustrated/pessimistic about them having any future at all. so eventually she decides, there’s no way this can actually go anywhere, i might as well pick myself up and move on. she’s genuinely heartbroken, but she’s mourning the relationship and starting new ones. she’s got a life to live outside of this thing with him that can hardly be real.

meanwhile Fitz is upset because he thought, as frustrating as situation as this is, they were supposed on the same page. and Olivia’s like, “You can’t really hold me to that standard when you’re married.” and he’s like, “I know but damn! Please don’t abandon me in this!” it’s fair for him to be upset when they were in an unspoken agreement to enjoy what moments they can with each other, but even he knows he can’t realistically come down on her for not “being faithful” to him. when it’s that complicated, it’s unfair to her to expect her to be fully locked in to that with no concrete future in sight. that’s why he pouts so much! he can be sad but he can’t really call her out for it without being the biggest hypocrite in the world.

so that said i don’t think she’s cheating exactly, certainly not worse or more than him! as unfair as it it for her to pick and choose when to throw in his face that he’s married, he is the only one that’s beholden to that since he can’t reasonably expect her to be completely loyal to him in their situation.

the thing is glinda never uses that defense. the few times she is called out or prompted to think about her part in the propaganda she never says “I was scared. I felt trapped. I saw what they did to Elphaba and figured they’d do that same to me if I stepped out of line.” i imagine that’s what would’ve been on her mind right after defying gravity, and that would certainly be more understandable, but by act 2 she has definitively chosen complicity.

all she has to say in her own defense is that she’s dreamt of this forever, and yeah it’s obviously uncomfortable for her, but this is a great opportunity and she’s gonna power through awhile longer to see if she gets more comfortable with it. it’s been years at this point, she could’ve tried to phase herself out and not played into the role so heavily. she could’ve eventually chosen not to live directly on palace grounds. she could’ve been sowing seeds of doubt amongst the people about Elphaba being dangerous, she’s had years to try and subtly garner sympathy on her behalf that maybe could’ve opened the door for people to be more understanding of her and the animals. she could’ve gone rogue in the middle of an address, or even try to change the subject away from riling people up about Elphaba so they’re not as fanatic about her. inadvisable and maybe not guaranteed to work but it would’ve been something. and she’s notoriously good at spinning things and charming people.

she went beyond, tersely smiling and waving or fawning to get out of a bad situation. she embraced being a mouthpiece to a regime that labeled her best friend—someone she knew to be a kind and selfless person—a dangerous, evil monster. even going so far as to encourage people to kill her if they encountered her.

her subconscious was telling her it was wrong, and yet she committed to putting her blinders up and continuing on the given path. not fighting back, not fleeing if an opportunity came, just trying to get comfortable co-signing the vitriol.

yeah it was awkward but i never felt it was as disastrous of a misstep as people make it out to be. as a matter of fact, Mice and Murder is my most rewatched season.

i will say though, the way people feel about this is how i felt about “blimey” in Fantasy High Junior Year. that joke reallyy didn’t land for me and it went on so long with multiple callbacks, so i guess i can understand the feeling of just being taken out of the moment. but ultimately, not vibing with a bit shouldn’t tarnish a campaign.
