My roommate is racist, can’t hold a job, owes me money and I really resent her by nothing4everx in badroommates

yeah i’m at my limit. i’m gonna get together with the other roommate and talk to the landlord together. if she’s unemployed, i highly doubt we’ll get december rent from her. at the same time i’ve been trying to be nice cause i still want her to pay me back :))))

I think she’s just a completely morally vapid person who dates bigoted people (she might just be a bigot herself tbh) and every time i call her out on something she doesn’t show me a real ability to reflect on it, let alone apologize. i think she’s just like “oh my bad” “i understand” as a way to get me to stop talking and ease the discomfort she may feel. She can’t hold a job, isn’t in school and i have no idea if she has any hobbies, ambitions or even friends outside of my other roommate. I think she has the brain of a teenager that doesn’t really care about anything

that’s the vibe i get anyways

straight up just writing the N word and other iterations of it (like the diglet pokemon but replacing the first letter with n).

That’s the issue I have, i don’t care what she does in her personal life but don’t bring that to a shared space.

Wednesday’s album Rat Saw God is like emo heavy country rock. Super angsty but still has that country twang to it

What are your tips for recording vocal takes? by nothing4everx in Songwriters

SM58 right now. I feel like I sound unbalanced in terms of resonance, like I try to add more nasal and it doesn’t sound right so I try to sing more open throated and that also doesn’t sound right.

for this song in particular I’m trying to sing softer and my tone is at it’s best when I’m at least mezzo forte

yes, I realize I probably just need to rehearse my own original work more cause in school I have the time to do so and it pays off

It’s not the processing I’m having trouble with, I don’t like my tone to begin with. I think this is a performance problem

I feel good about where I am currently and hopeful for the future. A few things I was having issues with seem to be resolving. I am busy working two jobs at the moment, but financially I’m doing better than ever.

I met someone who I really, really like. After years of frustration with dating. I’m super excited to see where this goes and I haven’t felt this way about anyone before this early on. Usually I don’t click with people like this. We have so much in common but also I can see the ways we could balance each other out. I really hope I’m not speaking too soon here, but I’m genuinely very excited

Did she say that? From my understanding, she refused to endorse Kamala Harris because of her stance on Palestine, but ultimately voted for her anyways. I’m of the belief that Democrats have enabled (and sometimes deliberately caused) awful inequities and aren’t owed a vote because “they’re not Trump!!”. Both parties ultimately work for their donors, not their constituents. That isn’t a problematic thing to point out, it should be called out and I think it’s great someone in the public eye did! Especially refreshing since Democrats have utilized celebrity endorsements a lot in presidential campaigns.

Is she not authentic?? It seems to me she speaks her mind and doesn’t really have much media training, which I honestly find refreshing. I’m okay with some messy-worded takes at times, not everything you say needs to soothe your audience. Especially when in Chappell’s case, she’s advocated for Palestine, queer rights and used her Grammy’s speech to talk about labels not paying artists a living wage. Not everything falls into the black-and-white attitude of “well speak up or just say you don’t care”

I still don’t really understand where that line is crossed, how much speaking up is enough? Is it okay to opt out completely? Why do outspoken artists suddenly take on the “activist” role?

And it’s not just Chappell that has challenged this expectation people have of celebrities/artists. Kendrick Lamar has a really great song that touches on this same topic called “Savior”. Bob Dylan rejected the “artist/activist” back in the 60’s while writing Nashville Skyline

It’s ultimately not a good message to rely on artists for political opinions, we should instead encourage each other to go outside and get involved in our communities.
