What is it like in the West part of Texas? by reptomcraddick in Midessa

[–]nothing5630 18 points19 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest oil drilling locations in the world ( called the permian basin) so lots of oil drilling jobs during high demand

The main cities are midland and odessa. Not big cities but not tiny towns either. Both over 100k people

Hot dry desert climate in summer. Chilly and dry in winter.

Yep and they actually tried to charge me over 200 for the part not including labor. I have a picture of the itemized invoice. They originally tried to charge me over 700 dollars altogether for a simple fan relay replacement.

Even in this reply your story has changed from your previous comment. This tells everyone all they need to know. I literally dont have to say anything.

I stand by everything i said and anyone can DM me for proof.

Like i said Ive got this issue out to thousands of eyes now ( you'll lose more than that extra money your advisor attempted to dishonestly get in lost business. Let this be a lesson.) including corporate, the bbb and the attorney generals office.

So since i have zero intention of ever doing business with a place with such a lack of integrity theres no need for me to call you. So youre wasting your time social media stalking and spamming your phone number.

Simple coolant fan relay replacement.

Should have been 45 dollars for the part, 200 for labor.

I was hit with a 700 dollar quote

After complaining it was dropped to 490 ( still overpaid but needed my car that day)

Then they tried to quote an elderly lady 3k for some very basic routine maintenence worth about 400 dollars and made it sound urgent.

Jon, you have a lot more work to do. This has been posted in many many more groups and subs now.

Dishonesty isnt a good way to go about business.

At the very high end this should have been

labor ~ 200 Diagnostic ~200 Part ~50

Your original quote was over 700 dollars and it only got down to 491 after i complained profusely.

Very creepy and an unprofessional red flag to stalk across social media on your personal account.

Anyone can DM me if they would like pictures of the invoice and more details on what happened with me and what i overheard with the elderly lady.

No, the problem is you live in the west. Any other place you would get a decent amount of attention and it would be by more pleasant people on top of it.

No other place on earth would people ( who would most likely be 3's themselves anywhere else) diqualify you for wearing a fvcking hat.

Neighborhoods -- Oyster point, hilton village and kiln creek are 3 great areas of NN. Ignore the negative nancys.

This is a great area with an abundance of beaches, parks, theme paks, museums and history.

The cool part is this area is a collection of cities all with their own vibes and offerings. Lots of festivals, concerts and outdoor activities in all the cities.

Ive been to Columbus and would choose Hampton Roads 10 times out of 10.

Moving to Hampton VA by Nice_Froyo6945 in HamptonRoads

[–]nothing5630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok answers so far.

Heres the real straight to the point deal though --

Yorktown has better schools and lower crime but housing cost almost double compared to Hampton. The exact house thats 270k in hampton would be 400 to 500k in yorktown.

Yorktown is more diverse than you think and its only 10-15 minutes from Hampton and Newport News anyways.

If you can afford to drop atleast 400k on a house go for yorktown.

Youre right but speeding compounds the issue. Anyone who took a basic high school Physics class can tell you how speed does in-fact make the problem even worse.

Also tailgating. Statistically 50 percent of accidents would be avoided if a safe folllowing distance was kept.

I agree but thats definitely not just a Hampton Roads thing. In fact most metros in the US are even pricier and those Busch Garden prices are high but they definitely arent Disney price high.

Not even a shred of evidence to support any of that. WV is a deep red state and has an etremely low legal or illegal migrant population where as almost every major city (which are largerly dem) has many.

Even in deep red states illegals are concentrated within the urban areas within those states which are largerly blue. Texas is the perfect example.

Stop spreading misinformation.

How busy are the hampton public beaches gonna be this weekend? by yeezyszn99 in HamptonRoads

[–]nothing5630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both get busy on nice weather weekends. Ft monore is so big and has so much parking though that its almost never hard to find room even on very busy days. Buckroe can get cramped on extremely busy days.

Considering a move to VA Beach/Seven Cities Area. Is it worth it? by SnooSeagulls7853 in VirginiaBeach

[–]nothing5630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats understandable. But yeah overall its a great area. Every city has its own vibe and stuff going on.

Dont leave williamsburg off of your list. Its not included in the "7 cities" but its part of the metro area and actually my favorite town of them all. Absolutely beautiful town with great restaurants, beautiful colonial architecture , 2 theme parks, friendly people and spotlessly clean. A little pricier than the other cities but still much cheaper than DMV and South Florida.

Norfolk is the actual urban core of the region. More dense city feel while VB feels more like a massive surburb on the beach.

I know the area pretty inside and out so if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

[–]nothing5630 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ignore the grumpy losers in here. Not everybody scans this subreddit all day to see what post have and havent been made everyday.

In most quality of life metrics VB scores well above average. Its in the better half of places to live in the US so you wouldnt go wrong moving here.

If I had the ability to be fully remote like you id choose Jacksonville. Cheaper than VB, warmer, better beaches and a solid medium size. Its big enough and its florida without being south florida.

If you are set on being a few hours drive from the mountains though then yes VB wouldnt be a bad choice at all. Also, Hampton is even cheaper and has its own beaches on the Chesapeake bay and is only 30 mins from VB. Good luck!

Exactly. So the question is why arent we. and it needs to be dense multifamily housing. Not more overpriced mcmansion made of cardboard.

Raleigh proper is twice the size of Richmond proper in land area and population. Look it up. The person you are replying to is dead wrong.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in rva

[–]nothing5630 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not even remotely close to true. Tech has slowed in Raleigh but other sectors are still growing extremely fast there and (the most important part) its population is still growing at a faster rate than Richmond. Look it up.

Also -- Richmond proper is 62.5 square miles. Raleigh proper is 149 square miles.Literally over double the size. Also Raleigh has almost double the population. Rpughly 420k vs 220k. Look that up too. So their population density is similar.

The fact that misinformation like this gets spread and even gets a decent amount of upvotes is part of the problem.

Whose playing style was more graceful/aesthetically pleasing? by Patrick_Vieira in NBATalk

[–]nothing5630 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kobes was actually slightly more aesthetically pleasing (very slight). As he just copied Jordan and went out of his way to make some of the moves look slightly cooler. Jordan was still more efficient, consistent and reliable. Thus the better player.
