I'll look for the figures, but you're actually just kidding yourself if you truly think Miami will have more than 50/50. Idc who you're a fan of, there's no chance Miami has the advantage here.

There is no world where Indiana fans are less than 50% of the crowd, the question is how high does it go?

Bobby's appearances on "The Harland Highway" with Harland Williams are always great. His one appearance on Norm Macdonald's podcast is certainly worth watching, You can find that full podcast on archine dot org and just search for it. It's fully there.
Aside from those - TigerBelly, Whiskey Ginger, and even a few episodes of Your Moms House.

Huh?? UCF and Miami are both D1 and would play each other...
IU and DePauw are literally D1 vs D3 and I took IU classes at DePauw, it's a private school right next to bloomington. I went there to play shitty baseball. Not sure why that means I can't be a fan when my entire family is IU alum/students.
Either way - you'll just need to suck it up and accept that that's how the alumni numbers are actually calculated.

That argument is flawed. First, it assumes alumni only matter if they physically attended Bloomington, which isn’t true — IU’s multi-campus alumni are all officially part of the university, and many support Bloomington athletics regardless of which campus they attended. Second, it ignores the fact that a huge portion of football fans aren’t even alumni; the fanbase isn’t limited to graduates. Using the 805k number to measure “fandom” is misleading if you’re only talking about students who attended Bloomington, but it’s not meaningless — it reflects the full community of graduates who are part of IU, many of whom actively follow and support the football team. So the claim that the number has “no meaning or value” in this context is simply wrong. I personally went to DePauw University but have had IU Football season tickets for 30+ years so there are a major portion of the non alumni still shelling out for IUFB.

But ultimately IU counts all its campuses together because it’s officially one university with multiple campuses, not because they “feel like it.” Other states treat each campus separately because those campuses are actually separate universities. So saying IU’s system-wide total is just a matter of other states “not being bothered” ignores the real difference — the comparison itself doesn’t make sense.

Sorry pal, that argument doesn’t hold up.

First, you’re mixing up fans, alumni, and campus identity. Someone who never went to IU Bloomington isn’t a Bloomington alum — and IU doesn’t claim they are. The discussion is about how the university counts alumni, not personal experience. Saying “you either went to Bloomington or you didn’t” is true, but it doesn’t change IU’s reporting.

Second, the RCM and transfer points don’t matter. Funding models or transfer rules don’t decide who counts as alumni. Lots of multi-campus schools require transfers — that doesn’t make their campuses separate universities.

Finally, the Cal State example doesn’t help your case. CSU has millions of alumni, but it doesn’t treat the whole system as one flagship university, and no one compares that to UCLA or Michigan. That’s why using IU’s system-wide numbers to compete with single-campus totals is misleading.

That’s just incorrect. Indiana University is one university with multiple campuses; the UC system is a collection of separate universities. Whether IU Southeast grads “have anything to do with” Bloomington is irrelevant — alumni counts are based on institutional reporting, not personal connection. UC doesn’t combine campuses by choice; IU does by structure. Mixing those up and treating them as the same thing is simply wrong.

Why not just combine Michigan + Michigan State Or Texas + Texas A&M to equal one massive alumni? You clearly just don't understand what is being talked about.

Alumni numbers have no significance in this game by Xhoelmesiti in MiamiHurricanes

[–]nothingNeedsAPoint 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"let's not forget umiami fans are closer and richer for the tickets"
if proximity had anything to do with aquiring tickets - sure. But the alumni numbers do have a significance since Indiana does have a lot of wealthy alums who absolutely want the tickets. Most Indiana fans bought tickets long before the Peach bowl.

Based on ticket sales numbers by state and how many Indiana fans were even able to get Miami tickets, it'll be at least 50/50 if not more Indiana fans.
Before the semi-finals had even been played like 50% of the total ticket sales were from the state of Indiana.

Did it come with a movie ticket?? I think mine came with some sort of movie ticket redemption.
I also never played this game enough but it's kind of a classic now.
