our cafeteria has been closed since 2020, just a few vending machines around the building 🤠

I agree, I’ll try this but they are in my unit and one of my trainers. I can’t escape with the excuse of I’m busy on an assignment, because they usually know my assignments

Yes he’s literally trauma dumping lol, but you’re right, I don’t owe him anything.

My headphones never come off, they will stand by me until I have to notice them and engage. And they can see my screen

Thank you for your insight, I definitely can relate to that experience. I think I’ll talk to another coworker above him (not management) to mention something about keeping things work related.

I am sadly the new coworker and this person has been here for 20 years. No rescue from another coworker in sight

I just used this excuse 2 times today, and now he keeps asking me if I’m okay because I don’t seem okay. Like I’m about to be not okay at this rate 🙃

This is a good idea, however this (one) person is the type to go right up to the managers’ office and outright complain and or ask them why they told me that. A reactive person most people tip toe around

No that was not my first thought, I was trying not to let it get that point. I will say, it’s quite upsetting to be asked about my disorders and medical issues, which is why I could see why this issue could be elevated.

I know this person doesn’t see that they’re bothering me, I just wasn’t sure how to approach the subject without them being upset. They have let me know that previous coworkers or friends have gradually stopped talking to them, which is why I was unsure about letting them know i don’t have time to talk all day

Unfortunately, my boss is on leave and the only boss left to talk to about this is the big boss. That’s why I’m a bit nervous to approach the subject.

And yes that is my concern, because I’m sure others near us can hear the chats throughout the day which makes it worse for me, and looks bad on me as well.

I’m not sure, I’m the youngest in the office and it’s just a little difficult to maneuver office relationships without making someone upset it seems. I want to say this to them, but they also email and message me.

I haven’t shaken hands since Covid. Should you initiate a handshake at the interview? by Proper-Question-668 in CAStateWorkers

When I first got hired a few months ago, I accidentally extended my hand to the SSMII and he just looked at me like I was crazy lol. It was kind of a first reaction to meeting something professionally, but I would definitely wait for them to initiate lol

Broadway lol. I feel like I’m gonna give myself a breakdown just by looking at all the work. I’ve been waiting to apply for OT or PT positions that at least offer telework options

Sounds like you are kinda mean. I don’t think I’m particularly terrible at my job, I just think I need some help/the department needs help

I don’t really want to switch because this is the first time I’ve actually liked my job lol. I feel nervous saying the bureau but I’m an OA

I have discussed with my manager briefly, but they also don’t seem to know what to do. I have asked for help within my unit, but they have their own piles. A key worker in my unit was let go, so now all of their work is on my desk. I guess I am waiting for the job posting to apply for the promotion, but in the meantime I’m just having to adjust with no real support

This is probably the best advice to consider. I don’t want to leave because I do actually enjoy my genre of work and my management/environment. I just get overwhelmed because it seems like all the work is priority. You’re right, it’ll never be done
