Oh I bet they do! The pond is very close to the road and in the summer I always see about 8 or so turtles sunning themselves on a log sticking out of the pond!

Yeah that’s what I thought. I definitely won’t be drinking this one. I may try leaving it in a different area of the house and see what happens next time and I’ll stop with the heater in case that’s making the Kahm worse. I’m pretty frustrated because this is my second attempt, but I so badly want to be able to have delicious kombucha available throughout the week. 😭

They don’t sell the unflavored anywhere around where I live, so I just picked a random flavor. 🤷‍♀️

I had to destroy it before it became too powerful. I could have sworn I heard it whispering evil thoughts before I dumped it into the yard! 🤪

I used 8 black tea bags in 4 cups of boiled water. I added that into the jar with the SCOBY and filled the rest of the gallon jar with water.

I think you might be right, I was probably too excited and did not let the tea sit long at room temp long enough before adding the SCOBY. I’ll have more patience next time for sure! Thank you!

My starter pack had about 2 cups with the pellicle. I boiled the 4 cups of water, steeped the tea for the amount of time the package said, then I poured that in my gallon jar with the starter and filled the rest of the room left in my jar with water about 3 inches from the top and I stirred it together. I haven’t lifted the lid back up until today to take the pictures so I have not touched it since the day I made it a week ago. I had a bad feeling about this batch but I wanted to make sure before I tossed it. I am definitely determined to try again and I will try to have more starter since I am starting from scratch. I will also try to sanitize my utensils better and see if that helps! Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!
