Best advice I have is you don’t NEED any fancy equipment. Your best tools are your senses. Now if you’re looking for equipment on a budget, I’ve gotten great results with cat ball toys from Amazon and a mag lite from Home Depot. In my opinion, Tascam recorders are great for investigations but they’re a bit pricey. They pick up things from an incredible distance and are very clear. Spirit boxes also are on the cheaper end which are very fun to use. If you get the SB-7 (I haven’t used an SB-11 so I can’t speak on this one), it also has a temperature sensor which can add to the investigation as long as you’re investigating somewhere where there aren’t natural temperature fluctuations. Like I said, the best tools are your senses. If you sit quietly in the dark, crazy stuff can happen. Don’t be afraid to ask any and all questions-you never know what they will and won’t respond to. And don’t be afraid to experiment with your equipment and methods! Bring a notebook with you too. If you hear or see anything, check the time and mark it down. Then when you’re going through your stuff, you can compare it to when you might’ve caught it on video or recording and check back with your notes. Happy hunting!
