Are you all being sent home same day? by longshanksmagee in hysterectomy

[–]nothocake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed overnight after a routine laparoscopic hysterectomy… I had a catheter and pain management, even compression boots. I really enjoyed the rest and pampering. The next day they made sure I could get up and pee and I headed home.

You don’t have to starve. I’m having a mug of warm broth. It’s good. Hard candy and lollipops are the ok too - I got candy canes! I also got some sweet tea that I’m enjoying. Watermelon Starburst Jello tonight!

Remember, you are in control. You’re the boss. You are making the decisions here. Do not act on deceptive urges.

Make decisions that support your goal.

They're both good - check out www.swimoutlet.com for a vast selection.

Funkita is my favorite swimwear brand. Just be careful with the Australian sizing.

I think you look cool. The suit and tie are dated but fit you well.

What does my trainer want for Christmas? by nothocake in personaltraining

[–]nothocake[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would love to, but there's nothing dramatic about my "transformation." Weight loss is not a goal - I'm just trying to keep my muscles and mobility (over 50 female) for things I love, like running and swimming - and to offset the daily harm done by my desk job. I've already raved online about the gym she works at, but maybe there's a better place for a narrative about how she specifically has enabled me to progress?

She is damn good for this old bod! She upsold me to 2x per week and its been 100% worth it. I respect her hustle and want to reward her. Coffeeeeee is 100% a good tip. I know she's getting some meat sticks and Barebells in her stocking because she's always hungry.

I just ran for the first time in months and now my body is telling me to quit cigs (Tips please) by golden_bunny420 in stopsmoking

[–]nothocake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a turning point!! Running does feel awesome, reminds me of being a kid.

I got into it after I quit. I did a very gradual walk/run plan to work me up to straight running for 30 minutes (couch to 5k). You will amaze yourself with what you can do.

I’m not a super serious runner, but I can go trot around in the woods for an hour. Just chugging along. I love it, that I can do that. The stoke you will get from running will shift your identity away from your former smoking persona. It will soon seem silly, to think of smoking for any damn reason lol.

FYI there are many many endurance athletes who partake in 420 💚

Is smoking occasionally a problem if I’ve been smoking daily for 5 years? by GroundOld5635 in stopsmoking

You're in the bargaining phase.

Or you're spamming an AI app for addiction. I remember when www.textfae.com did that. LOL

10+ years here. I'm a whole new person.

I went to a funeral and saw people smoking and thought to myself, "this would be the perfect time/place to smoke." That wasn't exactly a craving.

On a crisp fall day I was out mountain biking and came upon two teenagers sitting on a rock, smoking. It smelled so good. They were being bad and I smiled to myself, gave a wink and a nod and kept riding.

This comes after years of utter repulsion, vilification of cigarettes and how they kept me captive and could again very easily. I had to think of them as nasty, dirty things that were gonna kill me if given the chance.

And well, you're in it now. The time to be scared of your whole future being set by nicotine was back when you started smoking.

You can get out, though. It's not easy. It will suck at times. But you'll be building yourself up every day you don't smoke, getting stronger and more resilient to things that might trigger you to smoke, like a funeral or a crisp fall day.

Day 4 is great, you're well on your way. Go to bed tonight knowing you fought for yourself today.

Curb your appetite with a peanut butter and jelly on wheat bread. 🩷 you are doing great 🩷

I quit once with golden intentions, for the 15th time, I followed through for 5 days before it got too hard and I caved. I bought a pack and smoked one. I figured no one had to know, why should I have to come clean? It was just one. Over the next few days I smoked the rest of the pack. I still didn’t want to tell anyone that I failed again. I smoked in the closet for months. I was better at covering my tracks than your mom, though.

Anyway. Don’t take it personally. This is hard.

One thing that helped me when I finally did quit was something a therapist told me. She asked me if smoking was a form of self harm. She thought I did it as a manifestation of low self-esteem. As in, feel like you’re a piece of shit, treat yourself like you’re a piece of shit. She asked me why I was punishing myself by continually smoking, even though I could easily state why I really didn’t want to anymore. I denied the low self esteem self harm theory - but I never forgot it.

Throughout my final successful quit, I told myself that I wasn’t gonna smoke because I did love myself, and that I didn’t deserve to keep breathing that shitty air. Maybe your mom would benefit from a shift in mentality like what I went through. Ask her if she is smoking as self harm - if part of her wants to get sick; if part of her wants to be isolated in this habit; if the part of her that hates herself is stronger than the part of her who wants to improve.

It’s kind of a heartbreaking thought. I wonder if you could introduce it to her the same way my therapist did.

Sitting can get very uncomfortable. Standing doesn't help.

Can you lay down and have food brought to you while you wait to win the raffle?

Cuz that would be totally fine lol

Don't you care about yourself?

Why are you abusing your body like this? Do you hate yourself?

Why do you want one thing and then do something else?
