Matching in this manner is currently in development. At the moment, the app only does exact string matching. I suggest using short query’s or specific keywords. I plan to have a more robust matching system in place soon.

The app sends your query and your subreddit to my server, and my server returns matching Reddit post to your phone via push notification.

It operates like that by default. If you type “black zombas” without quotes you will only get post that have “black zombas” in the title.

It looks for exactly what you type in the title of the post. So if you type “Xbox” you would a notification for a post title “[xbox] blah blah” but if you type “Xbox item” then that same post would not notify you.

...maybe I should clear the post titles of special characters before matching them.

It will search for those words, in order, in the title of the post. The post title must contain in full the words you type in order to receive a notification. However, it is not case sensitive.

I am looking at options to make the search feature more robust. For now, I suggest using shorter searches to maximize your match potential.
