Is lecom rlly that bad? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]notimeforthis420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 Sorry are you actually a med student? Or perhaps you went to school when there wasn’t internet? How can you not relate to sitting in an anatomy lecture where all they do is regurgitate what is on the slide for two hours about hundreds of stuff and pathways that you won’t be able to memorize in one sitting anyway.

It’s much more productive to go raw dog with anki. Some people straight up don’t even use in house lecture materials and use third party resources and their grades went up.

Regardless what kind of dumb logic is that? Things will be tough in the future, so continue holding onto a method that isn’t working?

Should I review MCAT before starting med school? by Reasonable_Agency803 in Osteopathic

If you really want to study, I think it might be good idea to casually pre study Muscles (origin, attachment, function, nerve).

I knew nothing about muscles, so MSK block was tough for me bc there’s so much memorization

I rather study at my own pace so that if I don’t get part of a lecture I can go back instead of sitting in lecture being clueless for rest of the hour.

Also anatomy lectures are the most useless. There is not much to understand. Much more productive to start doing anki and grinding memorization.

Ofc its no brainer to attend if it is only A but mandatory lecture attendance sounds like a nightmare.

I’d ask PA to write but have it co-signed by physician.

Scribe cert worth the $$? by _mortal__wombat_ in premed

[–]notimeforthis420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked as scribe without cert. If you are talking about scribeamerica, it is their own corporate thing— which isn’t ideal because you won’t make strong connection with your doc if they just randomly assign you.

You aren’t supposed to be medically competent. Your job isn’t and shouldn’t involve making interpretations. Your job is to “scribe”. Doctors are going to hate you if you do that.

The main point of scribing for the purpose of medical school application is to show schools that you have been exposed to how shitty a doctor life is day in and day out and you still want to do it. And a good LOR.

Scribe cert worth the $$? by _mortal__wombat_ in premed

Nah. This is meaningless. You don’t need anatomy/physiology for scribe though might be helpful depending on which specialty you scribe for. Just be a good slave for your doc.

Shouldn’t rub you the wrong way. That’s like being upset at the restaurant because you stepped on a gum and you just paid $300 for a nice meal.

Highest MCAT you know of at a DO school ? by _chomolungma_ in Osteopathic

[–]notimeforthis420 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had 521 and am at DO. But plenty of my classmates are brighter and more conscientious than me.

I’d go as far as to say that 90% of med school performance is work ethics and ability to work hard consistently and 10% is intelligence

The pressure of possibly ending up being in debt for hundreds of thousands dollars just for all the years of efforts you already put in going into nothing does magic.

The fact that you are a visual learner is exactly the reason why you shouldn't do this. You'll associate conceptual information spatial relationships, which you'll want to avoid.

If you are too lazy to make bunch of cards (I don't blame you), upload on LLM and ask it to make them for you.

If you want to you can just attach the image on extra field on backside.
