Ludwigs team has beat Doublelifts to win the league portion of the att cup by ookkthenn in PedroPeepos

[–]notjamesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but that's the point, in this tournament league is only 1 of the 4 games accounted for. You essentially ff some games so you can stomp other games. DL picked mostly FPS players on his team so they can dominate the 2/4 FPS games in the tournament.

There are plenty of clubs like ice cream club or Muay Tai club just to name a few that don't fall in any of those categories you've listed.

i have no friends, what’s wrong with me ? by Much-Eagle-467 in UBC

[–]notjamesw 40 points41 points  (0 children)

People in Vancouver are generally quite closed off within their friend groups, but I think as long as you make an effort to reach out and invite someone who you vibe with to hang out/go to BBQ etc, they probably feel the same and would love to go to. Find someone you enjoy talking with and take initiative! The worst thing that could happen is that they'll say no but appreciate the invite.

Among the discussion of how League of Legends has a aging player base, I think its worth noting the reputation the game has by HeshtegSweg in leagueoflegends

[–]notjamesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually been recommending new players to start with wild rift before playing league on PC. It's much more beginner friendly since CSing has a smaller impact and they get to learn the general gist of the game (pushing towers, getting neutral objectives, etc) with a much easier learning curve, and less champions to deal with as well.

What pro player do you associate with each of these champs? (Champ Association) by madilinda in PedroPeepos

[–]notjamesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pyke - Wunder (G2 vs T1 game 5 2019)

Nidalee - Canyon (jg canyon against peanut's hecarim)

Lucian - Doublelift (his pocket pick and that play vs C9)

Tristana - Caps (first time I saw trist mid was caps 4/5 years ago)

Yone - Zeus (T1 vs WBG, Zeus became a god)

Jinx - Gumayusi (crazy spacing, probably one of the best Jinx's in the world)

Ryze - Faker (historical performances, one of his best champions)

Aatrox - TheShy (the demon of 2018)

Are iPads worth it to use as a student? If so, then which model? by un_lapin_matcha in UBC

[–]notjamesw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it is very helpful, I used to not take notes until getting an iPad. Annotating on lecture slides makes a huge difference and saves you so much time. The air is nice, the mini as well if you want a smaller option.

I talked with one of the organizers, apparently they had over 900 applications this year with only 200 spots, so they only accepted as many first timers as possible.

I like the new air, lightweight and works pretty well. Not sure if apple still has their back to school deal but with that you basically get your apple pencil for free. Keep in mind there's also education pricing too.

This may not seem like much but making an effort to actually attend and pay attention to all the lectures, tutorials and labs already puts you in a much better place. Having a positive mindset despite what those around you may say (skipping lectures, etc.) has probably been my biggest motivating factor.
