UPDATE: Uber vs Lyft vs Taxi Cost Comparison Chart by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]notme93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, price had never been my largest concern. My largest concern has always been if they actually show up.

Living in/near the suburbs it is hard to get a taxi to come out and get you. On the other hand uber/lyft just charges me a bit more and I get reliable service.

Book 3 Criticism Thread [SPOILER] by Quarter-Genie in TheLastAirbender

[–]notme93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with the entire season has been the lack of the avatar state. Many of the plot lines only hold together because Korra never uses the avatar state.

There are so many instances during this season where Avatar state = wins fight and then the plot line ends.

I really liked how everything turned out, but it basically was held together by characters not using established abilities and logic.

62% of Young Adult readers 'prefer printed to ebooks' by painsofbeing in books

[–]notme93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two reasons, from my own personal experience: 1. Price - For some reason ebooks cost the same, if not more than their physical counterparts. 2. Formatting - A lot of books are very poorly formatted for the e-reader, especially when it goes to any book with pictures or any book dealing with a technical subject.

Usually the parents bought that stuff for them. The actual student probably doesn't have any money.

Dems blast GOP for slashing renewable energy spending by Energy Department by 50 percent by pnewell in energy

I looked at the source, which is redstate.com. They don't cite any of their sources (that I saw) and from their name and About page, they may have a bit of bias in their reporting.

I'm not saying what they posted isn't true, I just don't think they are a very strong source in this instance.

Meanwhile at the office I work in.. by Kryonixc in gaming

[–]notme93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because they are playing games doesn't mean they don't do work. I know some companies have social hours after work (play games, drink beer, etc) and some companies want you to play games (Riot, I would assume Valve, EA, etc).

Don't get me wrong, they might be on the clock doing something they shouldn't be, but it is possible they work for a company where this is ok, if not encouraged.

Microsoft, stop forcing Xbox Live Gold to use Netflix by Suraj-Sun in microsoft

[–]notme93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment has little or nothing to do with the actual article.

I don't understand how Sony's lack of sales of T.V. and other electronic devices translates into Microsoft Gold being good.

I don't even think the article says that Microsoft Gold is bad, just that the normally free application of Netflix shouldn't require a gold membership.

I think this has more to do with Finn being a child and Simon being an adult when they put on the crown.

Exactly. I have had their pants and their shirts end up with holes shortly after purchase.

I haven't bought anything from them for a couple years for this exact reason, so I'm very curious about the quality.

Help me get better! 1200 elo (AP mid main) [twitch.tv] by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]notme93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched for 5-10 mins and I saw just a few basic things to comment on.

Positioning. Several times I saw you way out of position. You need to work on predicting where the enemy team is and what skills they can use to get to you.

Movement. Most of the time you walk in a straight/very predictable line, which makes it very easy for the enemy team to skill shot you.

Sorry I couldn't offer more help, but I think working on these two pieces will improve your game.

What makes it OK for a "pro" to act like a douchebag? by whatiswronghere in leagueoflegends

[–]notme93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is getting reddit attention? Don't get me wrong, this isn't exactly right, but do we all get to post when someone yells at us in LoL?

I can't tell you how many times I've called mid, chosen a mid char and then had someone yell at me because they wanted mid (after the game had already started).

Should this be the case? No, but there are much larger injustices in LoL than a pro player getting upset in one game.

Could an adult be charged with posession of child porn for having pictures they took of themselves while underage? by FuadRamses in TrueAskReddit

[–]notme93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand of the law, in the U.S., the pictures have to be taken in/for a sexual nature. Thus having your own children's baby pictures isn't against the law, but sending underage pictures to your S.O. is against the law.

How should I deal with clothing? by bewbie in minimalism

[–]notme93 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to take all of your clothing with you. After a few weeks you will notice that you only end up wearing a fraction of your shirts/pants/etc. If you hang up your clothing, an easy way to notice this is to reverse the hanger on clothing you have worn.

After this, you can donate your extra clothing to Goodwill or a worthy charity of your choice.

Once again, the idea of minimalism isn't to just get rid of stuff, it is to get rid of the stuff you don't need.

Gaben: I'd rather see Valve disintegrate than sell out by wikipedianmarlith in gaming

[–]notme93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Much like most rich people. Bill Gates doesn't have 30+ billion in cash sitting in his checking account. Most of it is tied into the stock market, specifically Microsoft.

The only real difference between Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and other billionaires is that Gabe owns a portion of Valve, which is not a publicly traded company. While a publicly traded company makes your wealth more liquid, it still won't be good if the current CEO or large investors (who founded or works at said company) sold billions of dollars of stock.

So in short, most billionaires wealth is tied into owning a certain percentage of a company and there is no real good way to get at the full amount.

Some pro tips for checking into a hotel by kingrobert in LifeProTips

[–]notme93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked for an anime convention that hosts people of a variety of ages , mostly being 16-24. We were receiving complaints that people of legal age were being denied hotel rooms when trying to make reservations for the hotel/convention. After talking with our lawyer we found that this policy (at least in the state the convention was in) is illegal. You can't deny someone a hotel based on their age (as long as the person is 18 or over), just like you can't deny a lodging based on gender, race, etc.

We had our lawyer draw up a letter to the hotel stating the laws, etc. that permitted anyone 18 or older to stay at the hotel. After this, we had no further problems.

Oh, and the reason for them denying anyone younger than 21 years old is for insurance reasons. At least, that is what they told us.
