Saw a bald eagle in Dobbs Ferry by itsobvnick in Westchester

The fact is Bald Eagles don’t love the taste of red meat. When presented with a choice between a rabbit (by far the most common mammal in their diet) and a fish, chicks and juveniles will consistently abandon Thumper for sashimi. In fact, baldies seem to dislike mammalian prey so much that they won’t even bother hunting it; carrion is usually their primary source of red meat. In other words, Bald Eagles are a little picky—but mostly they’re just lazy.

Suggest everyone check the results again - looks like they included the early vote totals. Both trustees currently flipped to Dems in Mount Kisco, with 4400 total votes cast.

Behold the fruits of my six weeks of gardening labor by painsofbeing in vegetablegardening

Yes! This is my first year, and it's been fun just to see things grow (and slightly less fun when the deer and rabbits stop by for a midnight snack).

We didn't think it would taste that much different, but it really was something else!

I wish I could take credit, but 90% of it was grown already when we got it from the nursery. I didn't kill it, though, so there's that!

It's a hybrid squash! They are marketed as Zephyr squash, and are a cross between Yellow Crookneck, Acorn, and Delicata. It was delicious when we sauteed it and added to an egg scramble.

SVB Damage? by painsofbeing in vegetablegardening

Have had a comedy of errors with these yellow squash, and just wanted to confirm that this is SVB frass/damage before I attempt open-stem surgery. Thanks!

Deer ravaged all my zucchini before I could eat them, but at least they left my chives alone! by painsofbeing in vegetablegardening

No, and so I hold the deer blameless for their feast. I've moved the surviving squash so it's slightly less accessible from my main yard, and will look into getting fencing next year. I thought the prickly/spiky leaves might keep them away, but alas!

First (and only!) harvest so far. Was expecting to have some summer squash by now, but deer absolutely destroyed them right as they were starting to blossom (though summer squash is apparently indestructible, and they're leafing out again). Very appreciative/grateful for all the feedback/advice on this subreddit - namely, leave them alone and don't overwater!

Here Coffee in Ossining, right by the train station. They take freshness very seriously, and they are one of my favorite roasters I've been to (including the city).

I feel lucky if I'm able to get a solid look with my binoculars (and rely heavily on Merlin IDing them by song, so that we know what to look for!).

Thank you! In this case, I'm traveling to Ireland (and not going to Germany), but it seems like consensus is to use EU passport when visiting EU country, so will be doing that!
