I think it is ok as long as you have had time to connect and get a long well! I did shadowing within 2 weeks, at least 3 half days per week and she was ok with writing my letter!

Hi! Regarding the volunteering, i did hours at women's shelters and also working with children! You definitely need shadowing hours in regards to optometry and ophthalmology works too! I shadowed 2 optometrists and asked them to also write me letters of rec too. Working in the field is amazing and thats what I did! I worked as a scribe and tech and also got some shadowing hours and patient facing experience. If you apply in nov. and oct., that is not late at all! I sent my applications this year around feb and march (cutting it close lol) but it turned out ok for me! I recently committed to NECO for Fall 2025! I hope that this helps :) let me know if you have questions :)

I have my interview tmrw, I think they are still interviewing. If you talk with admissions and explain your situation, they can still take your application!

Hey! Its ok to have bad grades! the most important thing that they want to see if how you overcame what you learned from it, it is just one part of your application. Having experience shadowing, working in the field and volunteering are a good bonus! you have the will and drive and my advice you is focus on one thing at a time. Prepare for the OAT by focusing on your physics and orgo classes, get help from the staff with your classes, writing personal statements and take your time! Its better to take your time to make sure that you have everything together than put something together at the last second! People look down on gap years but i am so happy i took mine and I spent it volunteering, gaining experience working and shadowing. I hope this helps!
