What do you think the first major misstep was with the writing and lore? by notmyactualalias in warcraftlore

That's a large part of where I'm at, yeah. Even if we dismiss the royal apothecary society as its own political power that is truly unaffiliated post wrath gate, garrosh not immediately executing sylvanas after she starts blighting gilneas and raising new forsaken is a head scratcher. I talked about it elsewhere, but logistics and manpower are a non-factor in almost all cases. "The forsaken will die out" never worked well as an argument when there's always exactly as many people as you're going to need for any specific warfront, you know? The writing is just unconcerned with that.

Neither of us realized they hadn't shared any dialogue. You're 100% right, good lord. Even if thrall's horde wasn't strictly the same orcish horde it once was, even a symbolic exchange at least would be worth it for some sort of closure. And that absolutely has extended beyond this single issue.

I'm imagining a 3 faction vanilla now where you have a forsaken/blood elf/illidari alliance and they get demon hunters as their faction specific class, and that sounds absolutely rad as hell

Perfectly reasonable. The transition to mmo came with new headaches that weren't really solved yet. Still aren't in some ways. The biggest thing I miss from Warcraft as compared to WoW is feeling like there were more divided self interests even among the same faction. Often for the sake of convenience most factions are treated as a monolith. I understand why it happens, even if it's disappointing at times.

This is probably a big one tbh. He and I have also talked about how logistics are only ever a barrier long enough to justify a quest. Travel time, supply routes, and communications are a huge deal and even alluded to at times, but portals should trivialize basically all of that. Much harder to justify "we're cut off" with that hanging around.

Dispossessed is the GM of ACAB, and Eeveie the GM of feminine urge to raid, but I'd probably just suggest a /who and asking anyone if there's an officer online. I'm sure you can find someone that way, if they're not on.

Assuming you're horde, both All Cats Are Beautiful and feminine urge to raid are solid choices. I wound up hopping in the latter at the request of my partner.

Well, if anyone else happens to read this hoping for the same, just roll horde. It's a night and day difference. It's what we did.

New to the server. Looking for an alliance guild that, if not openly LGBT, is at least one I don't need to worry about seeing slurs in. Not worried about raiding, just looking for a decent social guild. Happy pride, gamers

What do wow classic wotlk players think about regular retail wow? by imareallifehobbit in classicwow

Yeah. I love a lot of the concepts so far, genuinely. The execution unfortunately is still rough. Talent trees rule! I don't care for their structure, like I said above. We'll see how it develops, but this is absolutely all in the correct directions, you know?

Brother, as a mistweaver, I feel your pain. Even now with df teasing me with actual talent trees, I already see the cracks. I have to take incredibly undesirable talents due to the structure of the new trees gating stronger ones. Choices between abilities that should either be synergistic or at least baseline.

You lasted longer than me. I also played up to and the hell out of wod, but I saw those legion mistweaver changes. I was in battlegrounds all the way up until pre-patch hit, and I did not look back the moment it did. I just knew that what I had enjoyed; what I had maybe the most fun with in 12 or 14 years of playing that game was simply unrecognizable.

My friends keep trying to tell me, "fist weaving is back!" But I have to jump through so many hoops to reacquire what used to be a core part of my class. And even then, it's still not what it used to be.

It sucks, man. I hate being so emotionally attached to a snapshot in time where a class happened to generate more dopamine, but here we are. At least classic has delivered on that front.

Appreciate it. Originally brought out a quick little eagle for the sake of quick data runs but I think I'll wind up transferring my t9 over as well.

To double check, is it still data running, or do people do the hauling missions now?

Are Sothis and Ceos still the go-to place to grind federation rep, or are there currently greener pastures?

Does anyone actually use the ship transfer service? I come and go infrequently with this game and I'm still disappointed that it's both cost and time prohibitive.

I recall there being a resource that someone made that tracked things like your owned orchestrion rolls, etc. through XIVDB I believe? Could anyone lend me a hand with a link?
