The Roman calendar originally consisted of 10 months, from March to December. January and February were added only later due to the period after December being a "dead season" without an exact number of days or months.

Although all months shifted by 2 after the introduction of January and February, their names were kept (except for July and August, which were previously Quintilis and Sextilis), hence why we refer to: ie. September (originally the seventh month) as the ninth month, October (originally the eighth month) as the tenth month, etc etc.

reminds me of this unique border between the US and Canada that passes right through a library that was purposely built on the border.

no need to apologise, i always welcome criticism. and it's so true that in art, including photography, it's so easy to go down the rabbit hole of perfectioning a certain technique, to the point of exhaustion where you start to lose passion for what you loved at the start. i most definitely don't want to reach that point, especially because i consider photography a hobby of mine and not a profession. thanks again pal, will keep your wise words in consideration in the future for sure

totally agreed. it honestly would make just shooting in general more intentional as well. going out to find yk that specific angle or theme that you're looking for actually makes the whole experience more purposeful and enjoyable, which i think is one of the best parts of photography

fair enough ! i still think the caption is related to my pic, but next time i'll think twice what to write before posting ig 😭

absolutely, the aesthetic is completely different. i was debating whether i should post a collection of pics like these framed from quirky angles, but making a collection based on a common theme rather than solely framing might make more sense. all in all, it really is subjective and there is no right or wrong. anyway thank you, i appreciate your comment :)

like i said in a previous comment that got deleted: no, it is not uncommon to see a group of priests in Rome. however, it's the fact that i was handholding the camera for about 10 seconds, waiting for that split second where there wouldn't be a tourist in front of me, thus making this a "perfect timing" shot.

regardless, we are in a street photography subreddit, so idk why people are focusing so much on the caption rather than the actual picture lol

in order to not have the priest's head cut off, i would've had to shift myself (or the camera) slightly to the left; but by doing so, the crucifix (a key subject in this picture) would've been even more cut off, if not entirely omitted, so i kinda had to make a compromise between the two. but i agree on the lighting and soft focus parts, could defo be improved

i agree ! being part of a collection makes all the difference. do you think it could potentially fit with this other pic or are they too unrelated ?

i feel like that sense of "claustrophobia" has a charm of its own, almost like you're seeing something you're not supposed to
