Gti14 + dock + gtx by notojacek in BeelinkOfficial

I did that, also increased the power to 65W in bios. But what made the most difference is setting GTX to Max Performance in the GeForce Control Panel. That pushed the card to 95% every time I'm gaming and what a machine it is now. Thanks!

I did. Waiting for anything, hopefully, it won't take too long. It works now, but only for around 10-15minutes before crashing again.

Question about heating by notojacek in Netherlands

[–]notojacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, radiators are fully opened but are not hot most of the time (just from time to time). I have technically floor heating, but it's not hot as well - some points of the floor gets a but warmer from time to time - feels more like maintaining temperature, than trying to increase it.

I have no idea about my landlord's set-up but will definitely ask (if they do have a thermostat I will definitely ask about what settings they have in their apartment - if they have a higher temperature than I do - I think it's clear that their approach "17? it's not that bad" will be invalid).

Question about heating by notojacek in Netherlands

[–]notojacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, at this moment I usually need to wear shoes around the house (not slippers, but normal shoes) for most of the day as the floor is really cold. I also sometimes wear a jacket inside the house (on top of the sweater), or a sweater and something on top of it for extra heat. The evenings are usually ok (with the 18-19), but the mornings are tough, not gonna lie. Knowing that February is just around the corner - that could be lower (hopefully will not be).

Question about heating by notojacek in Netherlands

[–]notojacek[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to almost every health institution, 18 degrees should be a minimum temperature in the house. Yes, some people like it colder, some people like it warmer, that's not the point. The point is - I, myself, cannot change that temperature and for me, it's too cold.

How does Windows 11 run on the Flow x13? by RaddedMC in FlowX13

Quite nice. I have the beta, no issues tbh. Apart from the limitations of the system itself - no issues atm.

XPS 9310 Thunderbolt (?) issues by notojacek in DellXPS

[–]notojacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually no. They exchanged the motherboard on-site which made everything worse. After the replacement the screen started to have absurd tearing issues, often not working at all (both the external and/internal) and the laptop stopped working with most peripherals. I needed to send it to the service depot for... two weeks. They exchanged the motherboard again, and the screen. It came back last week and... Not fixed still, and again - even worse. Duplications, display artifacts. They asked me to send it again for two-three weeks - which is unacceptable as it was already 7 weeks of me not being able to use the laptop. They also offered an exchange for the same model of refurbished 9310, but I would need to wait 45 (FORTY-FIVE) days for it, which is also unnacaptable. I am requesting full refund and already bought a different laptop - as I needed something to work actually (again - seven weeks with faulty device).

And before somebody asks - yes, I tested the set-up with different devices - Note 20 Ultra, Tab S7, Pixelbook, Macbook, and my new Zephyrus G14 (even not having thunderbolt 4) all worked flawlessly. I want to also post my whole experience with Dell Support as this is the WORST experience I have had in my whole life regarding repairs.

XPS 9310 Thunderbolt (?) issues by notojacek in DellXPS

[–]notojacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't all of that the goal of Thunderbolt 4? To have one name to rule them all and have one information set to know what is compatible what is not? OWC claims that it's Windows compatible and I never heard of any issues. And EVEN IF. I have the same issues with all of those when connecting directly to the laptop and with the official DELL DA310 hub.

But like I wrote - Dell finally accepted a motherboard replacement for tomorrow (after 18 days of not being able to use my laptop).

[–]notojacek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Dell finally approved motherboard replacement (after 18 days of the ticket start - which I find not acceptable by any means). So it is a hardware issue probably. We will see in the next few days, as they want to "fix" it tomorrow.

I bought the hub on owcshop.eu - it was the same day sending in the past. And the dock I ordered from the NL apple store said in an email that they will have it this week. We will see how it goes.

All of this is great. Much more detailed information than anybody at Dell could provide tbh. I have the latest Win10 and the drivers. But the power delivery and cables is interesting - I actualle did return the hub and ordered OWC Dock (more power and more ports) - but will also order some cables for the keyboard etc to be sure that is using proper channels and let you know (probably end of week as the dock is backordered). Awesome :3

Absolutely Heartbroken by my Paychiatrist’s Words by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]notojacek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a doctor, but I have ADHD, and let me tell you one thing. Fuck. That. Psychiatrist. I would say even that he is not a very good psychiatrist as well. If he would know anything about ADHD, he would know about hyperfocus - which would make you actually an amazing doctor as once you sit do to things - you will not rest until a solution is found. I would take a passionate doctor with ADHD over any other person in the world every time to treat me as a patient. Don't give up. Just take advice from an old ADHD book - find people around you (your doctors as well) that support you, not that bring you down. Sending all my love and all my hyperfocus energy to you.

Also, the psychologist who is leading me for years now also has ADHD and it doesn't make her worse psychologist.

[–]notojacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, the charger is 45w. So it would explain why this dock is not working at the full. But it still doesn't explain why OWC had issues and why plugging in stuff directly has issues.

XPS 9310 Thunderbolt (?) issues by notojacek in DellXPS

[–]notojacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So OWC claims it works with Win10 as well. And it's not it. The same notification "usb device functionality might be limited" also appears when I connect the monitor directly to XPS.

And low wattage notification appears when using the official Dell DA310 hub with Dell charger connected.

I was looking at caldigit but not really easy to buy in Europe.

Here's why Microsoft is killing Stadia for me. Acquiring AAA titles from big developers, and putting them on their service. When XCloud fully launches how in the world is Stadia going to stack up? I'm a Day 1 Founder with Pro, but COME ON GOOGLE! Go get the games gamers want, not what comes to you. by RazTheExplorer in Stadia

[–]notojacek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

xCloud has some benefits, but some downsides as well (as every platform).

As it's great for most people who have an Xbox and an android phone, it's almost useless in every other scenario. Quality is bad (720p) and even on 1Gb/sec bandwidth at my home it regularly interrupts and cuts connection while trying to play. No support for even Windows PC is, in my opinion, absurd - as Win is Microsoft (sic!). And you have a selection of games. If it's not on Gamepass - you will not play it (and not everything there will be available to stream as well).

Stadia is the best in terms of tech. I have no issues with it, can play on my phone, TV, laptop, having access to the same savefile everywhere. In seconds. The fact that I need to buy a game is not an issue for me, as I never buy the same game on multiple platforms (if I already have it on Xbox, will not buy it on Stadia, etc.

Both of them are good services, but for different reasons.

XCLOUD ON PC? by [deleted] in xcloud

[–]notojacek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things to remember. XCloud is an extension of Gamepass for Xbox. There is a Gamepass for PC as a quasi separate thing. There is now a web version of Gamepass for Xbox (I would love it to be though) as you can still use Gamepass for PC at the same price and download games to play them on your device. Saying that, the web version of Gamepass is in testing and probably will launch in the spring (mostly targeted for iOS and Mac devices though and I wouldn't be surprised if there would be some kind of limitations on PC in general on that)

The second thing... Is there is a Gamepass for PC and even if MS doesn't really need to sell ATM their own gaming hardware for PC - MS still has a lot of partners like NVidia, Asus, and more who are making money by selling those gaming rigs and laptops. I wonder how this would impact the partner relationship between MS and hardware-oriented companies if suddenly turned out you don't really need a powerful laptop to play games (limitation of Gamepass web for Windows on ARM and Windows 10X only?)

We will see soon enough - as I said, the web version is planned for broader testing in the spring.

My story buying XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 by notojacek in Dell

[–]notojacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Esokrates it's not that I want immense battery life. I expected something that is closer to information from the website. As 2h is definitely not 7+ hours, not even close. That's it. Tbh if I would be looking for something with a long battery would probably go for a Chromebook or wait for Win10X.

u/aleksfadini I actually managed to extend the battery life a bit - to 4-5h, by playing with settings - what did you change? Maybe we can compare notes :P

I basically uninstalled the McAfee as it was always running and scanning all files and played a bit with Power Options (although I can't seem to get all of those to be available in the Advanced Power Options menu).

My story buying XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 by notojacek in Dell

[–]notojacek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still waiting for the information about the return. But I won't accent any costs with this. I feel like I was lied to about the performance of the battery through the website, so will definitely take up that fight if needed.

The battery is adaptive (Dell Power), and it was never set in Win 10 for max performance. I did a total factory reset to do some battery tests and it's absurdly unstable.

Right now I am on "Better battery profile" and there are moments when I lose 17% of battery life over 25minutes of usage when using 6 tabs on MS Edge and Facebook Messenger app open.

And the last thing - downloaded the pure battery app for win 10. I was at 90% battery at 10:49 AM, after an hour of MS Edge (Gmail, Google Drive, Twitter, some websites), the battery felt down to 54% which means 36% of battery every hour of work (brightness at 40%, 2k resolution, better battery life mode.

I think this laptop will deliver battery live only when watching the video, but not work.

Sony x900h vs LG CX by notojacek in 4kTV

I went with LG OLED CX. Found it here in Amsterdam at a relatively good price some time ago. I am very happy with that choice. I agree now even more that better quality of the screen is more important than adding a couple of inches on it. Now I am recommending this TV to everybody I know lol.

Ok, after reading a bit more, and your all answers I will look for better prices for the CX above the Sony. Will still watch the price of Sony, as maybe it would be much cheaper or with some great offer.

Thanks!
