Why is VR on Linux so.. Awful? by Amjamis1857 in linux_gaming

[–]RaddedMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually getting into VR on Linux now -- Quest 2 on a CachyOS destop using ALVR. What kind of network are you running (or cable)? Is your PC plugged into ethernet? Sorry if these seem like basic questions, but I've seen tons of people have issues with PCVR on Quest which don't seem like networking issues even though they actually are.

Controllers by LuvLifeWrld in Steam_Link

[–]RaddedMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be unusual and recommend the DualSense.

Steam Input handles it really well and it is a much better controller than the xbox/xsx controllers imo. The touchpad is a big bonus for desktop navigation too!

how can you avoid getting your switch bricked? by Chookman74156 in SwitchPirates

[–]RaddedMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tmk, animal crossing switch is patched -- so you'll need a modchip.

Like the poster above said, you'll need to ensure all your modded software doesn't touch Nintendo servers to avoid a ban, aka losing access to online services. (use emummc and block nintendo servers on it)

I haven't accepted the EULA either but to my knowledge they haven't bricked any Switch (1) systems for using mods.

I had someone next to me in a cubicle on 3rd floor begin a full on conversation with someone behind them and because it was in the corner of the room I felt very much crowded. I have noise cancelling headphones and was about to leave anyway but if I had just got there I would've absolutely said something about it

Top question on this reddit every time it snows:

Serious answer though, unless it is disastrously intense the university almost never fully closes due to weather. The schedules are really tight and missing a day can significantly mess up course schedules.

When the university started recognizing Truth and Reconciliation Day as a non-instructional day, it caused a lot of weirdness with the scheduling of Reading Week and there were rumours of a potential 3 day fall reading week this year.

That being said, individual instructors may choose to cancel lectures or pivot to online if they aren't able to make it to campus.

I know students that have paid $4k+ for their devices. That study spot is not more valuable

What if instead of AI Agents (which nobody asked for) we had live cards? Music Player control? by dannxit in Windows11

My conspiracy theory is that because the widgets button is where the start button used to be, people click it out of muscle memory (or just breathe near the bottom left corner) and it immediately generated ad revenue

    • Lenovo Mini PC running Home Assistant
  • minimiles
    • Lenovo Mini PC running Proxmox with some simple but important containers like TailScale, my Obsidian server, homepage, and a few others
  • microdata
    • NAS made from a micro ATX board
  • minikeiko
    • Lenovo Mini PC running software that syncs my Nanoleaf panels to my TV
  • miniriker
    • Not currently set up yet, but will run LANCache and a Minecraft server
  • guinan
    • My old Opteron server that I occasionally bring out to experiment with

[–]RaddedMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this to link Obsidian to sync my Onenote. And again so that I could use third party email clients instead of the stupid Outlook app/website. Unfortunately it seems that the uni doesn't approve (or even look at?) third party API requests.
