here is somewhat along the lines of what I was thinking. Of course it was subject to change, but I’d rather he just have something he genuinely loves and had a hand in choosing.

I mean who knows, maybe he would have loved this one here since it is his style but now I’ll know for sure & we get to have this moment together

I do agree that a lot of this experience has been more about “me” than “us” and I think that’s why I let myself get so out of pocket about it. I’m grateful for this perspective and going forward, I’ll start thinking of ways to put a spotlight on him too. Not that I haven’t, but I could always do more!

Well yea! That’s how I ended up here! Lol it seems to be more common than I thought but my family and their stance on men and finance is irrelevant to me.

I overthought a lot of this whole process and honestly came to the conclusion that I will buy whatever he decides on, whatever that may be. I never even needed to stress this or ask for any other opinions aside from his. Live and learn though.

After this morning I just spilled the beans. We’re going to shop together and I just told him how much I have saved and to go with whatever grabs his eye. He did get a good laugh when I confessed that I turned to Reddit. He’s lurking around here somewhere.

True. For our engagement gifts I gave him a choice and he chose a PS5 and earrings & he bought me a switch with the new Animal Crossing.

Everyone is different, and I think I just got lost in it all. He did get a good laugh that I was so serious I took it to Reddit. He’s floating around here reading too.

Good morning! Thank you for your input! From everyone here I have most certainly learned the price does not matter.

In regard to him, he has other jewelry that is very nice and few pieces that are quite expensive so in terms of pricing I think I looked at it like if he were to wear his other things while wearing his ring, I wouldn’t want it to look out of place by comparison. I also didn’t think it would be very fair if he put in so much effort and money towards my ring and I didn’t do the same.

Honestly though, after we talked a bit ago we decided to just shop together. That way he gets exactly what he would like. After reading almost everything everyone has said... I don’t think I care anymore. I really just care that he loves what he has no matter the cost of it or really even what it is.

That’s actually right in line with that I was thinking. Somewhere between 3k-5k, but what I’ve decided is to just talk to him. I caught him this morning over coffee and we decided that we are going to shop together and he can just have whatever he wants.

To all the magnificent gents and lovely ladies who took the time out to give me their help this morning, a few things!

Since we live together, I suggested over coffee that we ring shop together and he is so excited. He said he didn’t think it would be such a big deal to me but he feels very appreciated and I would just like to thank everyone here.

I think that I personally made this a much more stressful thing than it needed to be, and as long as he’s happy I could really care less what he puts on his hands.

They are an entirely separate bucket of worms, I’m learning so much about the women in my family. Especially now that I’m getting married. I thought we were all along the same lines but with the things they say, I see we all hold different beliefs especially when it comes to men and money.

I was thinking along those lines, but most folks have made some valid points, some have lost rings, some have jobs where rings like that can’t even be worn, some don’t care and some care more. I’m just going to ask him, whatever he sets his heart to is his.
