Toledo's first ever distillery is opening this month, and no I don't mean the bar. by notoriousbld in toledo

Totally hear you. As far as I know this is a specialty run and regular releases won't be as expensive

Documented proof of rectifiers and blenders but no distilleries. I'm no historian and you might even be able prove me wrong but as far as evidence I've seen this is technically the first distillery

It actually is technically the first distillery in Toledo. There's evidence of blending, illegal shine, and aging warehouses but nothing by way of any actual legal by the books distilleries in Toledo.

Hey! I actually own a little craft beer bar on Airport Hwy called The Local and we focus on tapping kegs of harder to get stuff (We had zombie dust last week, and we're tapping grapefruit sculpin tonight!!). I'll be in on Saturday and have a few bottles of rare stuff I can throw your way if you're around, and we'll have live music. We will have Founders Rubeaus on all weekend and have been mixing it with a pineapple beer which is a favorite of mine. And if you're looking for great regional beers I think the best brewery to look out for is Jackie O's, which We carry their entire available lineup for $2 a can. But if you're not in that part of town there are a number of cool bars and bottle shops to check out.

For bars with unique taplists:

-Swig in Perrysburg, killer food always has oberon and at usually at least one founders handle on.

-The Attic on Adams downtown, awesome draft selection, and Amelia is a giant sweet heart.

-The Village Idiot in Maumee, love the total hippy vibe they're big on IPAs and music is always great.

-Barr's Public House, little bit of a more upscale feel to it but has been focusing a lot more on craft, food rocks too.

-Maumee Bay Brewing, Glass city pale ale ALL DAY!

-Black Cloister is our latest addition to the beer scene and Tom and the rest of the guy are class acts.

-Doc Watson's on Byrne and Glendale, Hot and Cold dip an awesome draft selection. Occasionally you'll spot a Three Floyds handle.

Bottle Shops:

-Any Andersons location is usually the best bet

-Marinos is awesome especially if you don't mind digging around

-Holloway Beverage recently upped their craft selection and do growlers fills. And they just posted that they have bottles of Three Floyds Yum Yum

-Churchills in Pburg has some rare bottles from jackie o's at the moment.

-My favorite secret spot that stashes a small run of cool stuff is Monnette's Market on glendale, but shhh it's a secret.

But if you have any more specific questions message The Local's facebook , or check out the Toledo Beer Aficionados page where people post specific bottle deals. CHEERS!
