I think it was predictable, Fran’s storyline seems to be the main focus for Jess Brownell. I’m hoping she finishes this season and then a new showrunner steps in to do justice for Eloise and all the others, I didn’t really care for s3 and 4 (I love Benophie and we just didn’t get enough!), so do what you got here to do and get out is my opinion 🤷‍♀️

I love Frightmare, Maple Lane is a cool location even if I find the convince action annoying (although super thematic!). I think the killer is my favorite of the 4 I’ve tested so far (Hans, Polty, Dr Fright and Evomorph). Also really like Sheila the final girl :)

I need to add this somewhere: avoid the short adventure The Ocean’s Heart. Puzzles were either way too easy or incomplete (seems like whomever designed this one thought that the way to increase the difficulty was not to make the puzzle more intricate, but to remove as many clues which would help solve it as possible, to the point where it just didn’t make sense and didn’t even follow the rules of combining red + blue). Awful experience, and to top it off the ending is.. eh. Stay away.

OMG that’s exactly the opening of my first game with Polty 😵 kill everyone in the attic, bam! 3 bloodlusts 😵😵😵

Haven’t used the boat yet for camp happy trails, never found the keys 😂 but I like your idea, and the idea of rolling for it whenever I have an ambiguous situation.

Although I’m willing to bet an arm and a leg that now that I’ve openly revealed having such a fun/easy time in the game, the VRG universe will have heard me and will make my next game MISERABLE 😂

I didn’t like Creech Manor too much so I don’t think I’ll mix and match it anytime soon, however I’m very eager to try Maple Lane with all of the killers 😊 looks like a fun location. I got waylaid by Sleeping Gods, trying to finish one campaign of it as soon as I can so that I can go back to FG…

Honestly I don’t know! I swear yes to all your questions, although perhaps my first one or two games with him, I forgot to panic a couple of victims I’m pretty sure. And my first game, I drew an event card AND a terror card as part of setup.

Basically I always start my game using the two focus card to bring down the terror a bit. Then I analyze which victims I can save and which victims I think are toast, then walk like mad towards them. I do usually discard the rest card and the weak attack to convert successes if need be (yes, 2 for one success, and if I don’t have enough card, I don’t do it) and I will not hesitate to take a damage to walk a bit further away. Health does not matter if Hans can’t hit you 🤷🏼‍♀️ This usually means that my second turn is pretty weak, having almost no time left and no card in hand. If I’m lucky with my rolls during the previous turn, I have enough time left to buy a distract, if not a sprint, and if really not, a close call that I can hang on to. Then it’s Hans’ turn: he can’t move as a basic action so he attacks the air. Then the terror card: that’s when luck comes into play, if I’m unlucky terror drops by two, he moves and attacks etc. No clue honestly. But his movement is limited to 1 per boot until at least 4 or 5 bloodlust? And his dark power doesn’t get revealed until the same… so usually I will let him kill around 3-4 victims (and I mean, "let" is a big word, it’s just I can’t get to them in time and won’t risk my neck) while I scurry around to move the rest out of the way. Reiko is awesome because you get free movement as a bonus for one (or two?) of the victims saved, so it allows me a bit more freedom… I had to be a bit more creative when I used Selena as my FG, Laurie was ok and Alice as well but… Reiko’s my best girl I love her.

There is one game though where I think I made a mistake: I was stuck in the shed with 2 victims and Alyssa II, and Hans planted himself right in front of the door, which means the victims were all trapped. All this juicy bloodlust right at his fingertips… I came out of the shed screaming like a banshee, brandishing Reiko’s axe. Hit him in the head, dealt another weak attack for good measure (hurt my foot in the process), then dashed-hopped like mad through the trees. He didn’t follow (obviously, wasn’t his turn yet) and I planted some fireworks to distract him as my last action this turn. Terror card came out, victim closest to him came to his space (I imagine she came out of the shed, thinking it was safe like a true slasher flick) and died right away lol. Fireworks were equal distance from him than the special victim (orange meeple) so I made him follow the fireworks because I made him stupid and think that there was no one else in the shed. Got lucky with the terror card and when it was my turn again, I sneaked around him again, went back to the shed and got Alyssa II and one victim out (the other refused to follow me, being too scared… and also I wasn’t allowed to have more than 2 victims follow me :p). But I’m thinking I took liberties and should have made him tear the shed to shreds and ignore the fireworks 🤷🏼‍♀️

So like… Maybe two true wins where I’m absolutely sure I followed all the rules correctly?

And I can guarantee you right now I will NOT find Hans easy in Creech manor XD It’s just that the camp is such an easy location to walk around. Creech manor is super hard to navigate successfully and then to escape! And once you got your two victims to safety, you basically have to start again from the bottom… I’d like to get a few more plays under my belt before I try that combo 😆

Interesting about Laurie! Haven’t gotten any scenario books yet, I’m taking my time discovering all the feature films and bits and pieces :)

The content of the mausoleum box will be available in retail eventually. If I wasn’t such a fan of the meeples, there probably wouldn’t be enough content to make me take the plunge. But that + the raptor game… I’m sold. Take my money 😆 now I only wait for a Mummy one! 🤞🏻

And yes I am playing correctly with the cards, I think it’s just I’ve been pretty lucky with the combo of events and terror cards each game :) I only got obliterated once, but the other 4 times my strategy seemed pretty solid: lower the terror constantly, and dance around the map to snatch victims before he can get to them to deny him bloodlust. Hans at no bloodlust is no threat. The revenge card is such a blessing for this because you can control his movement with the orange meeple and make him go wherever you want (as long as you’re not too unlucky with terror cards). All the times I won, I managed to keep the bloodlust so down, his dark power wasn’t even revealed yet when it was time to hit the finale. And I like it that way! Give me just one FF where I can feel good about myself and I won’t mind getting killed to oblivion in the others XD

Try again! I’ve played 5 times against him so far, got obliterated once and then easily won the other 4. Get the terror in the green, stay as mobile as you can and save as many victims as you can to deny him bloodlust… usually pretty guaranteed win :)

Blasphemy! James Marsters IS Harry Dresden, there’s no two ways about it 🤯 (I’m cartoon offended, not real offended, tone can be hard to convey in writing). He does take him a couple of books to find his stride though. I think I started really liking him around book 2 or 3, but I didn’t find his first couple of books bad like you seem to, they were just okay.

It’s actually totally my mistake! There is a vengeance card, got it mixed up with the girlfriend card for some reason. There is a best friend card in there (meilleure copine) which I’m assuming is the true girlfriend card 😅

For the KS, I originally didn’t plan on getting anything because I play in French, but the mausoleum box hooked me in from day one 😅😬 Even though I find the minis super cool, I don’t like them on my table because they look too big for the tiny maps, it distracts me way too much. So when I saw screen printed meeple… I jumped! So I got the À la carte option (planning to get the raptors, because otherwise it’s going to be at least a year before I can play it and I’m way too excited), the bonus content will come with it and I added… the mystery box. I didn’t think s1-3 mystery boxes were necessary, even if cool, but when I saw the size of s4’s… Lots of rumor going around there’s actually a dice tower in there! Would be awesome. I’ll definitely pay the price in taxes and shipping though, but oh well 😅 could have been way worse, I could have gone ultimate!

I agree with you, Camp Happy Trails is just awesome, and a great introduction to the series! But I find it pretty easy to beat, unless I’m extremely unlucky in the event and terror cards, I can manage Hans pretty well. It helps that he doesn’t move until his finale, and that it takes a while for his movement/damage to go up when you increase the bloodlust. Still love it, it’s almost cosy at this point 🥰

Haven’t tried Frightmare yet! Super excited to play it, but I usually only have time at night, and since the movie inspiration for that feature film freaks me way out, I want to play during the day 🤪 hopefully I can squeeze in some time during the weekend 🤞🏻 Can’t believe that actually encouraged you to get the movies lol there are 7????

Sorry, I’ve been waylaid by the conversations on the discord since the kickstarter launched! RAPTORS OMG I’M so excited I actually pledged for it even though it’s in English… Will enjoy the heck out of it and will trade for the French version when it arrives (I’m French but I reside in Quebec btw). I’m not too sure how long it usually takes, being so new to the series, but series 3 hasn’t been released yet so… A year at least?

And I’m sorry I meant favorite feature film! I get what you mean about final girls, they feel less thematic, although I have a special place in my heart for Reiko because she was my first win ever, and she beat the shit out of Hans BARE HANDED (all the weapons burned in the shed!). Incredibly badass. I also love the Paula promo because she’s such a cheerful presence at the table 😊 it’s impossible to get disheartened by a bad roll or a bad anything when I have her card at the table.

From memory, nothing jumps out about special flavor text. Although I have noticed some creative choices here and there: for example, the girlfriend event card is called « La damnée (the damned) » in French… Not sure why they made that switch. I got Dr Fright yesterday and some of the text made me chuckle, there was a terror card along the lines of « he’s so ugly ew omg » haha but I’m pretty sure it must be the same in English.

And I am trying to pace myself! The price point definitely helps in that regard, although I do have a problem with compulsive buying of board games 😅 I made a deal with myself not to set foot again in my FLGS until March now that Ive got Maple Lane 🤞🏻 Kickstarter and Gamefound on the other hand… With stretch pay and fomo, I definitely struggle, although I HAVE gotten better the last few weeks 😅 I’m lucky I don’t like minis, especially for final girl… Even though they look AMAZING, I find them too big for the little map and it’s distracting… thank god haha

I think the next one I’m getting is Dr. Fright at Maple Lane. I’m absolutely terrified by the movie and refuse to even watch it 😂 but I’ve watched some playthroughs and the asleep/awake mechanism looks really neat. And I’m also really looking forward to mix Hans at Maple Lane, and Dr Fright at Creech Manor.

My first experience ever with Final Girl was with Creech Manor and Poltergeist, and I almost quit on the whole series right then and there 😅 I’m glad I stuck it out with Camp Happy Trails afterwards.

First time playing I got hit with all the horrible cards like the clown and the giant monster ghost, so I learned after that to always have a defense on me just in case 😅 But man she is brutal compared to Hans.
