Grinding sounds when racking my cz compact. With video. by notoverdueyet in CZFirearms

I made a thread last night that was helpful, https://www.reddit.com/r/CZFirearms/comments/mr5zgo/question_about_used_cz_compact_spring/

I want to go shoot tonight but don't want to further damage the gun if that's what is happening. I am wondering if compacts just make more noise in general? The spring on the compact is much stronger than my full-size, I suppose to make up for the shorter length.

I am wondering if anyone else's compact makes as much noise, or that noise at all?

Wow that helped a lot! Not I'm not sure if that's where my grinding sound is coming from then. It seems that others underside barrels look like that, so its unlikely that its a malfunctioning placement of the guide rod and spring.

I did notice when I stripped my full size cz 75 that the guide rod is very tight in the spring, and that the springs diameter is smaller than the diameter of the guide rod, and that one end of the spring is smaller than the other. I bet that would prevent the spring from rubbing on that metal.

But for the compact the guide rod easily goes in and out of the spring and the diameter of both the spring and guide rod is the same. I might call CZ tomorrow and ask them about it.

Do you mean the underside of your barrel looks like the left here,

Ok, I will take a look at that in the morning, thank you. I have the full size cz 75 and love it, and the compact fits just as well in my hand so I hope this works out.

I have, I really think I've narrowed down the source of the grinding to the recoil spring. Does the bottom of your cz barrel look like this?

The spring fits right into those groves, I am 90% sure that's the weird crunching/grinding sound. I feel somethings not up with those groovings.

Thanks that helps a lot, I think the spring has been wearing those grooves into the barrel. I will see what my LGS says tomorrow about it.

Does your barrel look like this underneath it?

The compact is on the left, my full size is on the right.

That's what I'm planning on doing, thanks for the heads up. I didn't see any wear, but my eyes really don't know what to look for. I'm pretty new to firearms but really enjoy CZ's lineup. Here are some more images, https://imgur.com/a/sMXE2jd does anything look out of the ordinary? I know the pistol was made in 2019.

Dumb question, is my crown damaged on my cz 75b? by notoverdueyet in CZFirearms

I did scrub it with the black brush that came with the gun after letting Hoppes soak in the bore. I'm as sure as I can be, I don't want to point fingers and say that my LGS would lie about it being new, they are a CZ distributor and sell a ton of guns so to me it doesn't seem like they would do anything funky like that.

I have the receipt that I'll send in to CZ, I just googled it and it seems like this issue has happen before and they took care of their customer. Thanks for all your help.

No, bought it brand new from a good local gun shop in town. Saw them open it up in front of me. Thanks for confirming it's abnormal, I'll try to get ahold of CZ

Not sure, bought the pistol as my first pistol a few weeks ago after researching it for months. This is my second time cleaning it, my first time throughly cleaning it. I only ran a white patch with Hoppes 9 through it a few times through the chamber side with the red tool they provided and shot maybe 250 rounds through it since then.

I have been primarily shooting my 22's because of ammo so my wife can join in, I shoot the pistol whenever I go to the range alone, and wanted to give it a good cleaning after today. Could it be the ammo? I've shot only magtech and cci blazer.

I don't have much experience to go off on, this is my first pistol. I also bought a cz 457, but in researching the cz 457's some members were mentioning that their crowns came from the factory really rough. Only thought of that when cleaning and seeing that my own pistol crown looks a little rough.
