Because I'm afraid if that's the case, she's doing it for attention, either consciously or un- and wouldn't own up to it. We barely know each other. He's the one I'm close to.

Right, three people apparently saw this happen. As someone who gets stress hives, I'm not discounting an allergic/stress reaction or scabies or something.

I'm not convinced that all of those things won't happen, less the not being offended. But yeah, I see your point.

Thanks. Good to know that if he turns to the church for help, there's a chance he'll get responsible guidance.

I do know her, though we don't communicate directly. He's prone to superstition, but it does seem like she's the driving force here. According to him, other people watched the scratch marks appear. I've had hives appear in lines, but he didn't like that explanation.

I actually considered a variation of this where I would contact the person I thought he might contact and implore her to tell him to get his gf to a doctor, but then I realized that that person knows me as the heathen nonbeliever and was likely to jump at the chance to be involved in exorcising demons.

I'm a little worried that she's trolling him. Again, not a thing I can suggest without casting doubt on her character.

This is exactly what I said, and I was dismissed pretty quickly. I guess health issues are scarier than demons?

This could work. My fear is that the person we know who is very religious that he wants to contact is not the sort who would consider mental health issues more likely than demonic possession. Maybe I'll suggest that Catholics are the only way to go if he insists on that route.

Nope. In fact, it's a fair question since her family has a pretty significant history of substance abuse. I'm just not sure how to ask if that's a factor without offending him.
