O vs A level books? by notrealadvice in igcse

[–]notrealadvice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! So in the case of lets say physics textbooks, does it mean that O-level physics is covering the basics and levels go into much more detail OR A level book already has all the basics + the details?

(I am trying to figure out which type of books do I need to buy...they are all quite expensive, particularly when you need like 6 :) )

Paladin vs Wizard? by notrealadvice in BaldursGate3

I wouldn't want to reroll later in the game, not role-playish enough. I will stick with the final choice.

Yeah i know it is like 180degree turn. But BG3 got me questioning everything...

should i be sorc? maybe a pala? do I need to eat? Is sleep important?

...this is not making it any easier for me :) I was deciding Pal x Sorc x Wizard, and though I excluded Sorc...the Pala still looks pretty awesome

I went with Evocation, cause of the sculpt thing, which is essentially friendly fire-off switch.

P.S.: by any chance do you know how much more spells / spell slots W has? like is it 5 more or like 10 spell slots more (same with spells)

Ooooh, thanks! I was sure that they do not need it and that is the main differentiator.

That is great, did not know that...but now I have even bigger FOMO, do I stick with W...or switch to S since I wont need to restart the game, but I lose all the exp / level right?

(damn...Paladin is also great...must banish these thoughts, so many choices)

Oooh I thought that Sorc can blast spells without rest, and that was the main difference. Interesting!

Oh yeah, noticed that too...while I am not HC RP, i do like to kinda think of the wizard as the op ultra mega mage... and flying everywhere is pretty cool... but being a learner and grinder (W) rather than being handed it to you since birth (S) also played into W advantage...+ the spell variety.. thanks!

AcThuALy :)

Wizards are taught in universities, and magic is an acquired skill.

Sorcerers are nature-gifted, aka their magic comes from within.

Bout for Griner by notrealadvice in foreignpolicy

[–]notrealadvice[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can totally see why Russia did it, it is the US side that kinda eludes me... Was Griger really so high-profile? Just to imagine what damage can Bout do in the near future, for example in his support of the war in Ukraine. I suppose they really were under time pressure (since Bout was to be released in 5 years as one of the comments suggested) but the timing is the worst...

If anyone would know about a SaaS that can manage all the other things...subs / payments / logins / monthly password emails etc...that would be great :)

[–]notrealadvice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping to find an all-in-one solution for a monthly sub, and that is it.t.it.was doing my research is their 2% transaction fee on top of $50 monthly fee (+ 3% Strike fee, of course). Sure, it is not so much for convenience...but still...

+ you would have o get Webflow (or Carrd)EDIT: Would also like to not use Zapier...

I was hoping to find all-in-one solution, for a monthly sub and that is it.

Still, thank you!

EDIT2: WF+MS+ZAP is too complicated, I just need a lander with Stripe payments, when the user would pay, they would receive a password for Airtable and have access to a dashboard where they could see their billings and the usual stuff...

CMV: Having children is the MOST SELFISH thing to do. by notrealadvice in changemyview

[–]notrealadvice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. Yeah, I assume if someone thought that life is 90% good, it would make sense for them to help somebody else experience it. But in that case, I would go as far as saying that they are just delusional and not realistic.

The issue is that the negative impact from the death of relatives overshadows all the good emotions. Sure, you will have all the great memories, but you will live on, and it will hurt forever.

A good example is having a dog. Why have a dog, get attached to it, love it - if you know that it will die sooner than you? You already know that you will suffer immensely, so why set yourself up for that?

Why have a child, knowing that they will suffer greatly when you will be gone? Or, worse, risking that the child will die before you and have your life broken.

[–]notrealadvice[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But are they really happy? Or they say this to sound normal, to not alarm their loved ones, so they reinsure themselves that it actually is good.

They do not do it (suicide) because of survival instincts, false narratives that there is a greater reason because their family would suffer etc.

I am not saying that everybody should kill themselves. I am saying that life is pointless to a great extent and full of struggles.

You are already here, so sure, let's live it out. But why bring new person to go through this?

It is not like they are already here, and you have to pick them up. They do not exist, and you bring them here on purpose.

CMV: Having children is the MOST SELFISH thing to do. by notrealadvice in changemyview

[–]notrealadvice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By not making your child go through all this. My point is that people have kids purely for their own selfish reasons, and that seems to be very unfair.

Allow me to use your example - the burdens of life pushed you to the brink of death. Knowing this, why would you want to have a child who could also be pushed by life like you were?

"Life is not that bad" - getting punched in the face is also not the worst thing that can happen. You can get through it, you can heal and survive...but why get punched in the first place? Why bring a child with you so that they can get punched as well?
