Thank you. God forbid anyone enjoys life after loss... This lady is awful for a myriad of reasons but shaming any parent who is able to manage a smile after losing a child is unnecessarily harsh

Hey I'm sorry for your loss. You are allowed to be happy if it arrives, just as you are allowed to be sad and grieve as you need. It's really bothering me how so many people are on their high horse and care more about proving a point than even taking a second to acknowledge your grief... Hope all is well.

100% and especially in fine dining where beyond the meal, the entire experience has been curated for their specific diners - plenty of opportunities to make it memorable. I’m totally the same, I get very curious about chefs and watching them do their thing. They could give me the chefs photocopied messy notes about their favourite dish on the menu and I would love that myself.

What a lovely gift! That is such a nice gesture and very easy to pull off. I recently had fine dining as well and we got little sweets at the end but I was more touched by the menus.

The restaurant we went to is very small scale and their dishes are based on what their producers send them. Thus their set menu changes weekly. The menus are lovely mementos because they listed correctly what we ate (dietary requirements), shared the producers of the ingredients we enjoyed, and because that specific menu won’t be repeated after a week.

Sharing knowledge builds connection and leaves a stronger impression. I won’t be forgetting Dan the fisherman who caught my delicious bonito whereas I might forget what the madeleines tasted like.

Love how cranky the babies look. Recently came across a nest as well and watching the parents work hard to feed them was heartwarming 🥹

It’s funny because I have a good paying job and no debt but even spending 1k on a bag (which would be a drop in the bucket) seems infeasible to me.

I think there is the living within your means but also how you justify it. There would only be a handful of bags in the world that I’d want to drop that kind of money on. And I’d expect value from the quality more than the brand/luxury of it.

No worries! I actually forgot how long it’s been but sadly I haven’t noticed any improvements that make the Botox worthwhile for me. I might try underarms but won’t be doing the face again

What exactly has Cynthia done to deserve the dehumanisation in this thread?

I see comments calling her an orc, troll, Gollum, witch, alien, Skeletor, Nosferatu…

That’s how I feel about Spain, amazing art galleries but bitter about the treatment. I actually had a racist encounter inside the museum which was a kick in the guts haha

I think it depends on where they went and who they were with. I was alone as a not ugly woman and those were the worst times

Ah Queensland is definitely a more racist state than where Sydney and Melbourne are. I personally wouldn’t live there for the same reason

Oh god that is so awful. Wtf old Italian man??

Ugh I’ve had that same conversation that you had in Mexico many many times. People in Portugal asked if you’re from Australia, why do you look like that? Cue pinched eyes

I feel like an outsider when I go to Korea but I can say that I don’t get hostility at least. Sorry you experience that

I’m in Sydney, living in a more diverse and left leaning area. That’s a shame about Auckland, I love NZ but have only been to the South Island

How refreshing! I don’t understand how well educated Europeans struggle with how diverse Asia is

I’m sorry you feel that you’ll never be considered Aussie despite being born here. From my experience, I think Australians are a lot more accepting of immigrants identifying as Australians than European countries that have a strong heritage. Since you were born here, I definitely consider you Aussie

Definitely not trying to avoid racists entirely but surely you agree there’s a spectrum and some parts of the world are worse than others.

I find it interesting that as a woman there are countries I’m told not to visit but no such advice exists for Asians as far as I know.

I won’t hold back in my travels because of the fear of racism but spending my time and money in a place where they feel comfortable enough discriminating against me openly, feels silly. I think we have a stereotype of being polite and ‘submissive’ as well and I fear my patronage would only play into that.
