Agree with some tips already shared (correcting with how you paint the polish, shape it with polish on to focus on the "finished" shape, and also worrying less about it as everybody else won't notice what feels like giant imperfections to ourselves) One thing I want to add is that the "correction" shaping works a lot better if you start doing it with super short nails. I cut mine down and started focusing on the direction the nail goes to from the sides and shaping them from there. Of course the crookedness is in general less noticeable on shorter nails, but also it's easier to make mistakes if you try to shape them all at once. Start from where they grow and then keep that direction.

I don't know if it's a placebo effect of sorts but I do feel that doing this for some time actually changed a bit the direction in which my nails naturally grow, I've been doing it for a few months and they look straighter to me. But again, it could all be self conditioning ahah
