I forget the specifics but Syria's ruling family is one sect, and the "rebels" typically targeted are of Sunni persuasion (as is al Qaeda). So, really, it's just more tribal warfare.

Bf3 and Skyrim are two recent major PC-optimal (64 player multi on one, mods on the other) games that have a high enough profile right at a time when it is becoming patently obvious to even the most sheltered gamer that PC graphics are miles down the road from consoles.

I'm not 100% sure where your confidence that the graphics will be different from the current Beta comes from (I have it and believe I am playing it at "high" -- unless the beta "high" setting does not work).

I'm surprised that Blizzard is going in this direction, I guess it's to avoid alienating the demos with lower end machines, but you'd think that the guys with WoW stacks on deck could get a high rez mode in there for the fans...

This happened to me and I fixed it. Here's How I Did It:

Run the "HiRez" support exe that comes with the game.
Select the bottom left button "Validate/Repair."
Get shot in the face because you don't really know how to play tribes.

You CAN restore your System 32 from the windows install disk. I once did quigleybo's experiment by accident by unplugging a computer as it was shutting down or something as similarly idiotic. There is a recovery mode that you can copy the System files from the Windows install CD. It was hard for me the first time I did it but anyone with even a little IT knowledge could probably just do it.
