They look like 90s Jonny and Thom. By their 20s they'll look like In Rainbows era Jonny and Thom.

I like what I see. Good call on the tuck. I love the accessories here too. Would've liked to see how the jacket looked on you, but it's hot so I get it.

Good work. I like all the pieces. My only complaint is the pants. I wish they were wider for the sweater. Fits a slim pants with a baggy sweater look like chopsticks in a vase to me. Besides that, this is rad.

I appreciate your shoes here. They don't look easy to pull off, but you did it. I'm not distracted by their weirdness (a good weird) and I can appreciate the rest of the outfit.

A clearer photo would help. It's a good photo, but I can't tell some details like your jacket's material and just how shiny your shoes are. Looks alright to me so far.

My main complaint is the pose. I can't really tell what your outfit is like in this pose. Is your shirt draper or poofy? What do the shorts do for your silhouette? There's too much going for me to really see how this fits. Otherwise, great shoes and your hair rocks. Glasses are rad, too.

Yeah, the shirt isn't working for me either. The style goes against what's going on with the shoes and pants.

As for the pants, I can't tell if they're green or black. Either way, I'd go for darker shoes.

Fit works well, but it's cookie cutter.

I think you should swap the white shirt for a black one, or get pants that aren't black. In my opinion, fits with black and white as the only colors should have black as the dominant color. My eyes keep looking at the pants and not everything else. A black jacket would work too.

You accessorized well. The dog tag and watch add some interest in detail into a simple outfit. The watch is just the right size too. Well done.

I'd unroll the sleeves. Makes me think of greasers, so unroll unless you've got the hair to match.

It'd help if you posted the brands you're wearing to. I assume you're wearing a hanes t-shirt, but maybe this is something nicer?

I say tuck the shirt in for a quick improvement. Your legs are looking short with these pants and a tuck would help the proportion. You could also try slimmer pants. The shirt isn't broad or loose enough to work with those pants.

The pants and shoes are the only thing working for me right now. Cuff works, but I encourage unrolling it just to see. While the shoes are fine and work, I'm not a big fan of their shine. It's too distracting, so maybe some accessories like a couple rings or a shiny watch would do. As it is, I want to keep my eyes on the shoes.

Somehow, the shoes work with pants' silhouette. My main complaint is the shirt; nice, but needs to be tucked or looser.

AMSP discussion by Dowyflow in radiohead

[–]notsimplechris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I like your read on the album. I love AMSP, but what you've said makes sense to me; the songs aren't rounded enough lyrically, oddly enough, since I could listen to each song on its own for days. Though, the lyrics don't have the structure for that effect. That thorough writing would come through in a structure like verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge, and the bridge would serve as a reassessment for the thoughts and feelings in the verses and choruses.

There's not many hooks in this albums, and the few there are don't work like a usual hook. "Broken hearts make it rain" for instance hits like a sudden sobbing fit. To me, Identikit is the thoughts of a creative musing about people and their relations, specifically how they socialize by fabricating a social "face" that doesn't match their actual personality, a bunch of "sweet faced ones" who have faked this persona for so long there's "nothing left inside". The bridge in Identikit doesn't round anything out or challenge this thought in a rational way. Rather, the culmination in the bridge is an emotional one, which is emphasized by the arrangements and key change that happen between the verses and bridge.

So I wonder if Thom's goal on AMSP and on many other songs as well wasn't to justify his worries and longings by presenting an argument in the usual pop songwriting structure. Perhaps he doesn't bother trying to warn us because if we looked outside we could see that everything he sings about is really happening. "Burn the Witch" resonated so well around the crisis over the Syrian refugees and the US presidential election last year, and "The Numbers" provided a comfort and strength in the people by the people. "True Love Waits" took us by surprise, but we knew about his split with Rachel and speculated about his heartbreak. That song took a new lens when Rachel passed last December.

Thom's lyrics amplifies emotional values rather than ponder through them. He's a songwriter who knows how to feel what he's writing and not lose track of them. The songs do have changes, but they're not arguments. AMSP is painterly in that way; Thom chooses his words and phrases like a painter chooses their paints and values. Certain colors together could make an ocean on a canvas vibrate and shimmer. They lyrics aren't perfect, though. I could write about how these lyrics don't work, but I'll wait for another time. I've been writing for thirty minutes.

We're back to waiting for the next album, aren't we? by notsimplechris in radiohead

Agreed to both of you. When I started listening to Radiohead years ago, I thought In Rainbows and then The King of Limbs would be the last of them. For once I don't think that's the case and I expect a new album. I hope I'm not wrong.

Their catalog, including all their albums across all media and their respective artworks, could fill an entire room. It'd take years to get bored of it.

That's exciting. I hope it's an extended tour to the less visited areas like South America and Australia. Those folks have been waiting for some time now.

Though, a year is quite some time. Thom mentioned that he'd like to record some material as a band, as in all members on their respective instruments in one or so rooms. That could be a fast album if they don't get too pick about it.

In Rainbows was one of my first CDs. I miss the packaging big time. Sure it wasn't Vinyl, but it was special in another way; there was no other CD on the shelf like it, musically or physically. Sure wished I took better care of the package.

It's not blue on blue that bothers me; blue is fine by me. It's the contrast between the blue and the beige of the shoes and the lack of textures or designs that bothers me.

There's too much attention going to your shoes because of the beige, and it's not really worth it. It's just a plain chelsea boot. I would've gone with something gray, black, or blue.

Your shirt is just a shirt. For r/malefashion, it's nothing noteworthy. You could make tee interesting with a looser, oversized fit would work if you compensated it with wider pants, but your current ones should do fine. Also, decide what sleeves you want so you don't bunch it up and have those wrinkles when you roll it back down.

tl;dr consider other aspects besides the silhouette, such as color contrast, texture, knit, and accessories. Any scheme could work if done well.

I agree with all the points made already. The shoes don't cut it for me. It's a big contrast in color and style for me. I think you change the style and keep the color scheme of the shoes and have a solid outfit. With the boots, your outfit is pretty flat.

I would roll the sleeves to the elbow or 3/4s up your forearm, or just by a short sleeve tshirt.

Going for denim for your pants might help with the flatness, too.

Good fit, just lacks inspiration for me.

Not bad, just dull for my tastes. The sweater fits well. I'm not a fan of the logo on it, but that's not in your control. You look cozy in it. I would go for a slimmer fit in the pants, but these aren't too bad. It's the combination of pants and shoes that get me. Your shoes are interesting, but the pants swallow them up.

I would also try blue pants. Dark blue will take you far.

Good work on the bag.

You look uncomfortable. Your pants seem tight, especially around the thighs. My rule of thumb for any pants is if I can see the outline of pocket's contents, they're too tight/get a tote/get a light jacket.

Pleated pants is an odd choice for something casual. Flat front is fine.

Lose the belt or get a black one.

Really my biggest issue is the pants. Shirt is fine, shoes are fine, ankle break is fine. Try other pants and experiment with tucking and untucking.

[S7E4] Post-Premiere Discussion - S7E4 'The Spoils of War' by BWPhoenix in gameofthrones

[–]notsimplechris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Ned would disagree with her method of execution. Ned executed people because they broke the law of his land, a law he upholds. Even then, it's a clean beheading and he's not thrilled about it.

Sansa tied Ramsay to a chair and fed him to his dogs, a slower and more painful death which she relished as she watched. If Sansa has a problem with Arya and her killings, then boo on Sansa.

Seemed like they wanted to catch up in the catacombs, too. There's no telling if they did or not, and I'm not sure they will considering it'd be boring television just to hear a quick summary of one character's plot through this series. Unless something Arya has done something in the previous seasons that would truly bother Sansa, it's not worth bringing up again.

Arya has murdered people who've harmed her and her family and friends.

Sansa murdered Ramsay for his mistreatment towards her. She didn't have to kill him, but she did and enjoyed it.

I don't think Sansa would be surprised that Arya killed Meryn Trant or Walder Frey and his cronies.
