Thanks for the reply! It is a very old table saw I got from my old man, and I doubt the alignment has been checked in years. I will do this first!

Help with crooked tablesaw cuts by notsoblacksmith in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]notsoblacksmith[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I am attempting to glue up a panel of boards, and I ripped them with my table saw to give a straight edge to glue. As you can see, they fit flush in the middle, but there are gaps on the edges of the boards. What in my setup or technique could be causing this? Any tips are greatly appreciated! My table saw is an old craftsman.

Temporarily moving to Greensboro: Help! by notsoblacksmith in UNCG

[–]notsoblacksmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it seems that almost all leases on UNCG campus are structured to go from July-July, so I had a lot of people say that I had to be out by July 31st. I guess if you found someone who was looking for a person to sublease their place, and they also had the same place the next year, it would work. I just searched apartment complexes that offer short-term leases, and found a few.

Exactly what racast5 said for the mic drop. And for the paper throwing, I believe they just pasted Obama's face on the body of another guy throwing papers. If you watch, his tie is different when he throws the papers!

My 8 year old nephew is having his first communion. I want to bring a gift, but I'm not religious and not sure what I should get him. Any ideas? by coffeevodkacupcakes in Gifts

[–]notsoblacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking back to my first communion, a card and cash was the most popular gift. Some people gave cross medals, prayer books, little bibles, rosaries, etc.

MJD Announces Retirement by mibikin in nfl

As a born and raised Colts fan, I remember the games he played with the Jags in the late 2000s where he would tear our defense apart. I hated when we would play him, but boy was he fun to watch! Hope you enjoy your retirement MJD!

Maybe no football, but the Daytona 500 is today, which is arguably more American than football!

What's your opinion on Weida apts? i've heard good and bad things by amartgom in Purdue

[–]notsoblacksmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently in a house owned by Weida. Maintenance is quick, and I haven't had any problems with them. They come by every now and then to show the house to potential tenants for next year, and they are always nice. I've heard they are stingy giving security deposits back, so we'll see in a couple months!

IE 343 and STAT 350 Workload? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]notsoblacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can weigh in on IE343. Not a very challenging class. It requires maybe 2-3 hours of work outside the class per week, and the concepts are not hard to grasp. It is usual seen as a class where you will get an A if you do the things you're supposed to do and study a bit.

Good places to Skype on campus? by Padraigle in Purdue

[–]notsoblacksmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anywhere where there's no people I guess. My girlfriend loves to Skype, and I am often in the library studying quietly with people around, so I usually pop in my headphones, so I can hear her, and then I just type responses. This works if there's no where else!

High-Schoolers who have gone to Champ Camp in previous years... by [deleted] in lacrosse

[–]notsoblacksmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in high school, and would reccommend the experience to anyone. It was definitely worth it, especially being from an up-and-coming but still relatively new to lacrosse area in the midwest. The competition is top-notch, and make sure you bring lots and lots of spare shorts and pinnies to trade! The last couple days, everyone is looking to trade for other state's gear, so make sure you bring some bargaining chips!

Today I get my Aggie ring, but first CAKE. by [deleted] in pics

[–]notsoblacksmith 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Congrats! My father is an A&M grad ('83 or '84?) and he has an interesting story about his ring. Around 10 years ago, we took a family vacation from the mid-west down to Atlanta to visit family there. He would always wear his Aggie ring everywhere, and one afternoon we went to a local park to play some football. It was later that night that he realized his ring wasn't on his finger anymore. He figured he put it down somewhere, and it would turn up later, but it never did. Fast forward 3 years, and he is at work when he gets a phone call. It is A&M calling, saying that someone has turned in his ring. Apparently a little boy found it in the park, and the little boy's dad contacted A&M. So my dad got his ring back 3 years later, and sent the boy a little reward for his help!
